Theben starts on the offensive as the gladiators rush to meet each other in the middle. A skillful swipe finds the Doctor's bare flesh and cuts a nasty gash in his side. Meanwhile, to Doctor stabs at Theben, in an almost identical manoeuvre, but slightly closer to the centre of Theben's body.
Theben reels back into a defensive position, while the Doctor spins round and tries a similar attack against Theben's back. However Theben moves with the Doctor, facing him, and manages to parry the blow, his sword knicking the Doctor's arm.
The Doctor looks exhausted, and seems easy picking for Theben's low thrust, piercing the Doctor's thigh.
As they both retire, Theben is still a little dazed from the first blow, although his continued assault seems to have hit paydirt too. The crowd cheers, finally seeing some action from both sides, baying for more blood.
* Drogue grins, feasting on the spectacle, wincing when the Doctor goes offensive, but enjoying the valiant and successful attacks by Theben.
The Doctor has 83 HP and Theben has 78 HP.

Both gladiators are slow out of their rest area, obviously a little dazed after the first enslaught. They adopt defensive postures, and remain there while The Doctor and Theben land blows on each other. Spacius tries a couple of halfhearted blows, but both are blocked by Skanky's defense.
The crowd starts to boo and jeer the two gladiators, expecting the relative carnage of the first round to be repeated. Just as they're about to give you, Skanky twirls in a flurry and aims a blow right at Spacius' head. Powerful it may be, but that blow is easily thwarted by a sidestep from Spacius, who holds his sword out, knicking Skanky as he twirls past.
The crowd is taken aback by the last attack, and becomes excited at the prospect of a hard fought, skillful, tactical battle.
Skanky has 86 HP and Spacius has 95 HP.

* Drogue however, spots Jamski-San, the 5th place gladiator, in the crowd, jeering for blood. Drogue get's up and wanders over to the area where he's sitting, and asks for his view on the match...
(I might ask for the opinions of people who browse this thread but are not competing, as a little side attraction. Bits like that are an opportunity for them to comment, on the action, if they wish)
