I worked in a target for a few months once, all in all I couldnt complain about the job, managers treated the employees well, pay was as good as I could expect for that job-starting pay was 7.50.

What is better for the local economy, three dozen various small local shops, from bike repair to a super market to a shoe store, or a walmart super-abortion which employs 150 people at minimum wage?

Yes, because box stores are the only buisnesses that need employees.

You buy from a box store, the money goes flying away to some CEO and you never see it again. You buy at a locally owned buisness and the money goes to your neighbour, keeping the money in the community. The CEOs just want your money, they don't care about you or your community. Your neighbour, on the other hand, does (well, I hope he does). They don't want to see the place they live in turn to scowler any more than you do.
If you buy at a locally owned buisness your community grows. If you buy at a box store, the only thing that grows are the pockets of the share holders, and your community dies a slow ugly death as it seaps into poverty.

So? Unless the end result is that I get more stuff, somehow for the same amount of money, why should I buy from them instead of Walmart?

The point is you getting your stuff, puts lots of people in your community out of buisness. See how nice a place your community is when alot of good jobs go out of the area and it seeps into poverty.
