Sorry, but I have this crazy notion of actually looking at how they act (you now, the line about put up or shut up, or the lines about actions as opposed to words.)

Yes, you are right-one was a real war-the other is an annoying rhetorical flourish.
While I hate to do this, lets get a grip on perspective here folks- 25,000 people or LESS have been killed by Islamist terrorism outside of Algeria (a nice civil war situation of it's own) since 1990..which means islamist terrorism is down the line in terms of people being killed for political reasons. If people in the Rich states get all worked up abou it, its becuase it is the one form of political violence that hits them-much like how much more is made about a airplane accidents as opposed to the far greater amount of people that die from Car crashes. |
The huge majority of the 25000 people kill in Algeria where in fact murder by their own non-Islamist government which cancel than election the Islamist would have won by than landslide. Then that government blame the Islamist for the murder the government did. Than still no election where held today.

PLATO,
Your argument makes it seem like the U.S. as a group was an innocent bystander just minding it's business. It makes it seem as if AQ's agression was unprovoked. While, I am on the U.S.A's side in all conflicts and will fight and kill for the U.S. flag I still say that their was provocation even if you don't agree with it or even you don't understand it. Similar to Pearl Harbor, there was provocation. It may not be readily apparent to you but it's there. Specifically, the provocation was western presence in the middle east. You may think that the U.S. has every right to have a military base on foreign soil. Some Saudi Arabians do not. While I do not agree with the desire of AQ, I understand that if I were fighting a group with superior arms I would not hesitate to use suicide bombers. If I believe my cause to be just and that I am being oppressed everyone on the other side is fair game. The only way I could fault AQ for their tactics is if they had the same equipment we have which they don't.
Giancarlo,
Your supposed fantasy gunplay talk OSL is a joke.
You have stated you don't have the conviction of your words to take matters in your own hands.

I am full of wishful thinking. I like to think of myself as idealistic. I consider those compliments. I see nothing wrong with wanting the world to be a certain way.
As far as AQ, or any other group with ideals different from my own. I see it as just that. These groups actively recruit like minded individuals to their cause. They present a point of view that is strong enouigh to convince a person to give up their life in that cause. You can't deny that. Just because their ideals are alien to you does not make it right or wrong in my book.
I can tell you with a straight face that if I were a commander of a group that was at a disadvantage I would do everything in my power to even the odds. I have no pretense that there is such a thing as honor when it comes to killing. I have read history and I know that wars are not pretty and under the idealistic reasons(good vs evil) there is rarely ever any real moral authority.
The reasonings behind the current conflict with the Muslim world goes back over a thousand years. It boils down to me that it's a lack of tolerance on both sides. I state that this has to be changed not through further killing but a shift in attitudes on both sides
You may think that AQ and other groups just sprang up without rhyme or reason that is your choice and maybe it helps you justify your viewpoints.
I also stated that the only actions that are really of concern to the U.S. are the actions taken that effect the U.S. such as 9/11 and the attack on the U.S.S. Cole. Of course the U.S. should and will defend itself agaisnt acts of aggression. The U.S. involvement does not come from some desire to save anyone. Only to protect american interests. There's nothing wrong with that. I'm positive that the U.S. government is really more concerned about the safety of it's citizens, government and corporate assets abroad than whether women are being beaten in Afghanistan or whether there are gas attacks in Iraq. If I am wrong something would have been done about both situations over a decade ago. It being the case that my stupid idiotic ass of a person is right, I wish those far smarter than me would stop spouting propaganda as if they've been brainwashed into believing something that is obviously not true.

You're pretty feisty.
Please help me think appropriately. One of AQ's goals was for the U.S. to withdraw from S.A., so we did and moved next door to Iraq. AQ should not have a problem with this.
We have military bases in foreign countries. There government's allow this so the people of these countries should not have a problem with this.
The U.S. currently is the most powerful country in the world so we should have the righ to depose leaders of foreign countries.
It's okay for the U.S. and it's allies to use superior technology and weaponry to defeat there enemies but it's not okay for these same enemies to use the means available to them to fight. I.E. AQ needs to save up for a guided missile destroyer and some smart bombs. It's not okay for them to use cheaper chemical weapons because they are harder to contain and cause mass casualties. If they can't afford better weapons they can't play.
When middle eastern countries lose wars and are occupied, the combatants become terrorists not guerillas and not freedom fighters.
In fact, they are pretty much classified as terrorists whether at war or not.
The Terrorists hate the west because they hate freedom and they enjoy blowing themselves up.
What more should I be thinking?
