oh cmon Simcity 2000 is great. And ive always heard that SC3000 made only marginal improvements

No, Simcity 2K is pretty bad. Unstable, not even deep at all...
And yeah, Simcity 3K wasn't the biggest step ever. However it was a step, and its dirt cheap now.

quote:
You have it the wrong way. The first two SimCity's were gold. The third was ok, but the fourth is utter crap.

Thats what I thought...I could make beautiful cities with the first three but the fourth was just stuck being some small city.
But then I learned and now I can pretty much create any city I want to

quote:
Four was utter trash, IMO. Just

Boring?
Simcity 4 is BORING?!?!

How can you say that? Its a lot more complex than any of the other ones!!! Theres so much you need to do and its very satisfying watching those skyscrapers go up and such....
Your not very good at simcity, are you?

quote:
err, so which sim city should I get? I've always wanted to try one. But I see some conflicting opinions

If you have a powerful computer go with Simcity 4. It's a lot more complex than the previous ones and if you have strategies you've used before...they won't work.
But its well worth it

If you don't have the computer, go with 3K. Unlimited is only about $10, and its worth it.

I persopnally preferred Caesar 3 to all of the sim city games. I like the whole part about having to please the gods, and also the whole historical aspect of being back in time in such a great empire was also pretty cool too.

A game that was popular that I have no respect for is Black and White.

It is a lot of work figuring out what the point is. In the end you must come to the inevitable conclusion that there is none, and unistall the game. In my lighter moments I like to think that the creators are making a subtle statement on the ephemeral nature of existence, but that's probably not the case.

Yep... way too much work for what payoff? Another level where the work just gets harder? Bah! SimCity 4 is also another too complicated, too much work sim. SimCity 2 was perfection.. it wasn't too complicated, it wasn't too much work. It was just the right level of work to get to the fun part.

Well, you guys were right. Played Diablo2 for the last few days and it dia blows. You either are clicking everywhere and bashing non-problem monsters, or getting wasted by the bosses (not yet), or the mobs of medium monsters. Either way, there is nothing new.

OTOH, AoW is eating all my time and it is great so far. As one gamer said, best MoM like game since...well MoM.

If the "funpart" is when you've filled up all the land and no longer have anything to do, then yes, you're right.

I arcologies. There is something satisfying about being able to transform a city into something truly futuristic instead of just slightly shinier normal buildings.

What ruined SC4 for me was the way schools and hospitals had to be radically rebalanced every time I loaded the game. It just became too much of a chore when they were perfect before I left.

And I the fact that they have removed those things from the game...

Would be interesting to have a completely different game where to point is to own and control a such arco-thing... kinda like SimCity, though still different...
