A compilation of the clues with my commentary.
quote: Said GhengisFarb:
Whatever was used to age Tuberski 5,000 years had two interesting qualities - it must have been a delayed action, and Tuberski must have failed to notice it being "applied"... |
I wonder if the thingus is running out of power, if it only ages 1000 years now instead of 5000?
In any case. Since it had to be a delayed action, we could rule out everyone present when Tuberski died. This means, of the people alive, the clue would get me and ADG off the hook. Skanky, Doc and Mart were there also, but they are all dead. Hence Spiffor, Theben and Jonny would be indicated by this clue.
quote: Said Guynemer:
MAFIA - a clue
The officers on the ASS Apolyton are paid three times as much as the enlisted men, and they get more holidays. |
Now, if the device is from outside the ship, certainly someone would've more likely encountered it on a vacation rather than flying some errands as I would imagine shuttle pilots do. This would indicate officers and crewmen of higher stature: again, this would indicate Spiffor, Theben and Jonny, as Jamski quite clearly stated - to my chagrin may I add - that shuttle pilots are not officers.
The next kill's clues I think we can disregard safely, since they were probably meant to point or not point at the other Mafia, who is in all likelihood dead, what with the last ten or so murders being committed by superannuation.
Here they are anyway, though:
quote: Zopperoni said:
Its possible that someone is trying to stop those inside the ship from communicating with the outside world. |
This could indicate Spiffor, since then he'd have supreme control over the ship when no orders from the Federation HQ can be received or no information requested. I think that's far-fetched though, and thus the clue should be ignored.
Another one was from Urban Ranger:
quote: The corpse of Vlad was tied into his chair. |
This doesn't really give us anything, does it?
Back to superannuation. Btw, we almost nailed Spiffor this round but instead spaced the Doc. Interesting.
HongHu got this clue, although a round passed without any for some reason:
quote: Your outerspace senses reveal that the killer stole the aging technology from the HongHu Empire. |
This point returns to haunt me. Skanky Burns suggested, btw, the same thing as Spiffor back then. I, however, think that as a dignitary of a high position, Spiffor might have the needed channels to acquire such a device, and he might've had the chance to visit the Empire as a diplomat on vacation and simply steal one as well. Theben might have also acquired it as a weapon lover of some kind (think NRA), what with being a weapons officer with lots of holidays.
Another clue, this time from FlameFlash:
quote: As you watched DrSpike spin off into space, you tried to read his lips and he seemed to be saying something about his "...work being finished like a real mess, the bastard..." |
I don't have any clue (khrm) as to what this is supposed to be about. The only one in a position to make a mess would be ADG but that's stretching it. Besides it was Spikie's work being finished.
After that, the clues dried out. Partly because of negligence, partly because of Mrs. Jamski's mother.
I'm bringing this out now, as I'm, after looking at the clues, fairly sure that Spiffor is the one - the same conclusion Guynemer has come to. And if this helps Theben and Jonny to come to the same conclusion, I won't have to be afraid of the Mafia's revenge.
Then again, there aren't too many clues, so as I have said before, these could all be red herrings.
