It was remarkable, he didn't answer a single one of the questions. My favorite moment:
quote: Q Mr. President, why are you and the Vice President insisting on appearing together before the 9/11 Commission? And, Mr. President, who will you be handing the Iraqi government over to on June 30th?
THE PRESIDENT: We will find that out soon. That's what Mr. Brahimi is doing; he's figuring out the nature of the entity we'll be handing sovereignty over. And, secondly, because the 9/11 Commission wants to ask us questions, that's why we're meeting. And I look forward to meeting with them and answering their questions.
Q I was asking why you're appearing together, rather than separately, which was their request.
THE PRESIDENT: Because it's a good chance for both of us to answer questions that the 9/11 Commission is looking forward to asking us, and I'm looking forward to answering them.

Its nice to see Dubbya has all the time lines planned out - sort of like all the time lines (over the last 30 years) for Mid East peace and a Palestinian state.
Sounds like the US will be sending about 10,000 more troups to Iraq - that will take a min. of 5-6 weeks. Of course, the coalition will withdraw in about 10 weeks. Bush better break out the mustard gas (just like the Brits did during the last occupation).
As for the speach, I doubt if he won over a single American that was against the war before the speech, and probably didn't lose a single hawk. The great unwashed masses in the middle ground will decide what to do when and if they see a plan for Iraq actually work. Body bags won't win votes and once the American voters know of the revenge killings by the allies Dubbya's support will go the way of the WMD.
Johnson lost because of his complete lack of vision on Viet-nam - I think Ted Kennedy got it right.
