Yes there is. Becuase they invariably influence the answers the other gives. When you are making an investigation you want to get a view into what people were thinking back then as much as possible. If someone is next you you asnwering questions in some way, invariably, what the other person said will color your narrative, and make it less likely to get to the truth as the person saw it at the time in question.

What is trully ridiculous is endlessly making excuses for this administration, specially when the explination given by the amdin. are so piss poor, if only becuase they could not spin anymore without going into dishonesty.

Diplomat: There's no reason FOR them to testify together. So far, the only reason that the White House has been able to come up with is that it is that it would be efficient for Bush and Cheney's schedule.

Everyone else testified alone, under oath, even Bill Clinton (AFAIK).

This administration thus far has had to be dragged screaming and clawing through this process, from founding the 9/11 commission to providing it with information to testifying. This is just another example of their unwillingness to be straightforward in finding out what happened leading up to, during, and after 9/11, which is sad given their promises to restore 'honor and integrity' to the White House following Clinton's numerous scandals.

There's a huge problem with it, stemming largely from the administration's abysmal handling of the 9/11 commission in general. First they oppose its creation, then they deny it access to documents, then they deny access to Rice, and now Bush and Cheney appear together. Taken together, the combination of these stances, even if each is distinct and has its own rationale, looks like one huge CYA. If anyone thinks that Bush and Cheney can testify without a serious perception problem, they are kidding themselves. This administration, at the very least, is not considering the need to avoid the appearance of impropriety.
