If the neo-cons hope to occupy the Islamic region and usher in democracy, there will have to be large amount of troops.

I don't see recruitment pools growing. Kids don't want to waste years of their lives in Iraq for Bush. Recruitment is dwindling. So how are the neo-cons going to accomplish their goals of toppling regimes and bringing forth democracy without a draft?

We are stretched to the limit in Iraq. And we're not going to be leaving any time soon. If the Bushies have their eyes set on Iran or Syria, their policies will fail without an adequate amount of troops.

The only recruitment problem that I've heard about is in the Reserves. Basically, rather than simply having more troops, we need more of the Army's specialized functions to be present in the makeup of the active duty Army. A draft would be more or less counterproductive in that respect. We don't need a draft, we need to restructure.

You know nothing. Again this shows that this only affects the reserves, not anything else. And besides that a draft would counter-productive. It is better to have well trained volunteers out there, then poorly trained conscripts.

You don't agree with me because I agreed with the Iraq war and supported it. It was for a greater good in removing a mad-man. However, there are people trained and able for job, and I'm not one of them.

Google search for "military recruitment goals" turned up ZERO stories on goals not being hit. Several articles on how the war has not hurt recruitment, albiet the most recent was August.

This bodes ill if it is serious. If the military does begin to experience problems meeting its manpower obligations then it is eithier "stop loss" on a grand scale or the draft eventually.

Check mine. Google News turned it up, and it's from two weeks ago. There are several stories about poor retention in the Guard and Reserves as well, but that was my point anyway, and much of it has to do with this week as opposed to yearly goals.
