That's not recruitment, that's retainment of the National Guard. Allow more people to join the military and you won't need to use the Guard.

Exactly. The recruitment seems to be doing quite well. Even retaining regular army guys is about average. It is the experienced reservist that is bolting.

Increase the size of the standing army and bring the guard back home.

It's like I said, the larger part of the problem is structural. Too many important non-combat functions are available primarily through the Guard and Reserves. The Army needs to expand its active duty forces to include those functions so that we aren't keeping these guys on duty three or four years at a time. Ruining careers and family life like that kinda has a way of severely ****ing up retention.

Charlie Rangel also supports the draft. His point is more about punishing whitey tho' vs. actual need for troops. He sees the demographics of the armed forces slanted so that black make up a disproportianate share vs. demographics of America. Hence his solution is the draft to kill more whiteys.

So the US should hire African 'peacemakers' as auxiliary troops to deploy 'anywhere in the world' in order that US legions can be freed for combat duty? (see the article I posted earlier). I think it is a bit immoral to hire poor black people to do the job for rich decadent white people. But it will be accepted because they are from Africa, and not the States.
