As far as I remember the first texts I read wasn't that bad (But I could mistaking, don't have time* to read the 'old' translations)

The last german translation I read had something which is often used as a 'pervert' word... don't know if it's only in southern Denmark we use this word, or if it's also used in Germany

I have recieved Gangerolf's text. The Scandinavians should be able to translate roughly word by word, so I don't think we'll be the ones screwing it up. Then again, you never know. I did spend a little while wondering about that part with the foxes (yiff, yiff!) before looking at the context eventually cleared things up.

My edition should be available to Snapcase and ADG alike within a couple of minutes.

I've sent it off too.

It was way too easy I think. The last one was more fun and would have been much more likely to change meaning in the process, because it was more complicated and included more strange languages. Too bad it was never finished.

Full PM-box? Change here!

We also had only four languages that aren't Germanic: Finnish, French, Hebrew, and Russian. Like said, the Scandinavian languages lose pretty little when translated from one to the other. Also Finnish has taken quite a bit of stuff from German and Swedish, and practically half the words in English are stolen from French anyway.

We'd need more "bizarro" languages and more Romance ones like Spanish which we sadly missed, and we'd have to avoid chains where the translation stays in the same lingual group, like with Swedish->English->Norwegian->Danish->English.

There were two reasons why I picked this easy text:

1) The last one was too meaningless. What I recieved was totally nonsense, which made it quite boring I'd say

2) I was interested to find out how much 'off track' this very easy text could go

The results will be posted soon (in this thread)

This is the results:

Part 1:
He put on the devil suit. He thought himself quite dapper in the costume with its long tail and enormous horns lying curled on his head. He left the hotel room for the constume ball. As the elevator doors opened he noticed an elderly monk standing inside, and (adopting as deep a voice as he could) enquired: "Going Down?"

Part 2:
The police had learned that three marijuana cigarettes had been sold at a nearby school. The officer sent to the school to confiscate the drugs promptly announced that no-one was to be allowed to leave until all three had turned up. After a while he'd recieved four maruijana cigarettes.

Suffering from ads?

This was the first text:

Part1:
He was dressed up like the devil. The costume was huge with lizard wings and giant horns on the head.
He had a room in the hotel and was on the way down to a costume party. On the way down a little old baptist woman entered the elevator, and he just said "Going down?" in his best evil voice

Part2:
At my school.. the cop from DARE passed around three joints to show everyone... and he said "if i dont get all three of these back this schools getting locked down and everyones getting searched till i find it.." and like 30 minutes later when everyone got to see 'em and they got passed back the cop had four

Considering I managed to derive a text which (while missing an essential point) caught most of the original two links after you I can safely say that, no, it wasn't.

Well I think the final Part 2 makes more sense (except for the obvious "how underworked are these cops, honestly?" thing)- why would anyone hand in a joint that they knew hadn't been handed out?

I notice the tone in the two pieces converged over time.
