Inside the Hive Shortly after General FrankyChans transmission to Auldoninna had been relayed
A large circular table, carved from marble but polished black filled the centre of the room, around it adorning the walls were screens flickering from news reports in foreign countries, spy satellite images and footage from soldiers on the ground. Chairman Lazerus sat at one point with the chiefs of naval, ground and airforces sat close together at the opposite end discussing matters of the Azani war and the threat towards their ally General FrankyChan from Auldoninna.
"Have the league or Cerroo-Guardinian forces launched a major attack on our forces yet ?"
"No Chairman, currently we're heavily entrenched, dug in tanks, SAM systems, artillery the works as well as supplying nearby FCL forces with excess weaponary not being used. Further advancement would mean we'd be entering enemy weapon range and as instructed in previous orders we've come to a halt awaiting your decision, however we have suffered an incursion by Auldoninna in Tel Azan"
"How serious? Is it a coordinated attack with either of the other two alliances ?"
"They're blowing up more of the city then we are at the moment, doubt the others will be best pleased with them about that, especially since theyre all in the business of limiting civilian casualties. We do have a small garrison in that city of about 2,000 troops which is currently surrounded, we have a chance to take the initiative and wipe out the incursion when the Auldoninians begin firing on them or advance to take them captive. There are two choices, we either order heavy airstrikes which would in my estimate destroy around 7% of the cities infrastructure, or there are several divisions numbering more then 20,000 in the immediate vicinity of the city who could surround the Auldoninians in turn and begin shelling their positions"
"Either way those impudent humitarians claim an excuse to launch an offensive ...... tell me the world knows our forces are there and under attack and nearby buildings are taking heavy damage right ?"
"Definately, reports of it are on enemy news stations"
"Return to your position then and await new orders"
The Chief of Infantry stood up, bowed to the Chairman, and walked out of the room with thundering footsteps. A talented man gifted with complete analytical thinking and the pure physique of a hand to hand soldier he was.
"I see air superiority is reported as complete within FCL, diverting resources meant for the Hives mining industry has vastly increased output while not putting too large a dent on our ability to sustain this war over a large period of time, however why am i still seeing reports of enemy bombing raids Quin Chi?"
"Chairman the reports are greatly exaggerated, only the nation of Auldoninna has dared to attempt a bombing raid against us, most damage was done by incoming cruise missiles, and those are trying to hit specific locations rather then maximum damage. The last bombing raid we succesfully engaged the enemy air force and they fled losing 39 bombers and 12 fighters in the retreat. It is why i believe the other nations are hesitant to attack us."
"Make sure it stays that way, I do not want the positions on the ground to be strafed from the air, dismissed"
"And finally" The Chairman focusing with an intense gaze on the Chief Naval officier Kim Tse Jui
"Why is it we are still such a miniscule presence on the oceans?"
Kim could hear the growling in the Chairmans voice, deep, low and restrained. The Chairman never let his emotions get the better of his judgment but this tedious war with all of its treachery and little to be gained but a scrawny piece of land in a previously forgotten part of the world were starting to tug on the outskirts of even his mind.
"Chairman we not yet have constructed ships of the quality of certain nations but we do have dozens more battlegroups on call should they be needed, we are more then capable of defending our home waters but the sheer amount of navies from different nations present off the south coast of Azan it would be fuetile sending ships down there, it would be wise instead to keep them safe from enemy attacks until a more suitable use then patrol boat can be found for them."
"I want those ships in the water now..... they have just found their use."

Tel Azan, surrounded Hive soldiers
A blast of debris rocketed from a small house in Tel Azan, an artillery hit from somewhere by the looks of it. Hive soldiers were scattered around in the nearby streets, firing into the crowd of Auldoninna soldiers surrounding them whilst taking fire from all angles.
"Sir device is in place"
"Get a man on that roof, fire several rockets as far as possible into the outskirts where they've got artillery, ready the camera to record a broadcast back"
The Hive soldier emerged onto the roof of the house and was promptly handed a rocket launcher. Drawing attention to himself he began wildly firing into the distance, 3..4 rockets arced over the buildings, explosions and clouds of dust seen in the background. He knelt down to reload and time seemed to flow as slowly and smoothly as a placid river as the air behind him whislted as it was tore apart a bullet. He looked down, a hole in his chest, his black jacket a motled soaked mixture of colours now.
Camera recording
~
The Hive soldier dropped flat on his face as a shell curved into the building behind him, the camera swirled away looking at several Azani civilians dashing across the street screaming ... a blinding flash, and the bodies of soldiers and civilians alike could be seen flying across the street before the camera itself was destroyed
~
Fecundity Tower
"We have secondary camera pictures backing up the initial Agent Ping, devastating cluster bombs being used in civilian populated areas wiping out dozens of streets, the other nations, and the Azani's won't take too kindly to Auldoninna with this"
"Excellent work, send it to the Hive for approval and then broadcast it"

Port Svensguard
Definately one of the larger ports located around the Hive and buzzing with activity, submarines were queuing up for their ration stocks to be filled to max and one after one they submerged and headed out west to sea.
Later that night
"Sir unarmed enemy merchant ship 32 naut miles NEE heading SSE at 15 knots"
"Lay in an intercept course, full speed, fire 2 torpedos when gaps at 19, give them no chance"
In the darkness of the night two blasts tore through the small ship, its cargo erupting in a ball of flames as hull snapped in half and began its descent to a watery grave.
"Thats 3 now sir !"
Said merry sailor in a sinister gloating voice, obviously taking delight in the chase and kill game that was to be their mission for the foreseeable future.

Guardinian landing zone, north of New Aurora
The landing zone was a flurry of activity, but things were starting to look more organized now. The 1st Armored Division, known as the Armored Titans, was now fully unloaded and ready to move out. They had received their orders about an hour ago: They were going north along the A-7 towards Roshem. The 5th Mechanized Infantry and the 3rd Marines were also coming, with the 9th Airborne being sent further inland to guard their flank. As the first armored column rumbled onto the higway and turned north, the men were in high spirits. This would show the allies that Guardinia was serious about guarding their northern flank, and probably also give General Frankychan something to think about...
[OOC: Guardinia has a relatively potent army, although not nearly amongst the largest in absolute numbers. Guardinian Central Command does not believe in "defensive armies", choosing instead to rely heavily on mobility and attack strength. However, there are of course some units that have defense as their speciality and will act as "dedicated defenders" in a crisis. A much favored strategy when defending is to move fast and hard hitting attack units up on the flanks of their own defensive units, then have the defenders pull back, luring enemy forces to advance... ]

"Sounds good Colonel. We'll use your people as a rapid response team. We do have something of a command structure, but it's far more egalitarian than most. Just use your initiative and follow Azan's lead - this is their fight, after all. You have a good head on you, that'll help.
"And for the record, Noosland does have a good reputation in Jonchastan. It's precisely because you're not like Auldoninna that I'm trusting you." |
Colonel Downings grinned. "Well general, we could help more."
He pointed at the battlefield map on General Yoon's table. "Here, division HQ. Here, here, here, all HQ's. Comand posts here, here, here, here, and here. Plus all communication facilities, supply depots, and airfields in this area. They will all be hit before the main Guardinian forces engage the FCL defenders."
