	[NEXT GAME] Epic Game or Conquest? Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

So, here is the first poll aimed at deciding what the next game will look like.

The question is: "Do you want to play an Epic Game, or a Conquest?"

The answers are:
1. Epic Game
2. Conquest

There will be many other polls that will follow. Here is the list:

I personally favor the Epic Game. One of the thrill of the Democracy Game is that we are in the unknown, and we may disagree on what is coming. I think it is the main reason why our map designers (BFM and Togas) didn't play in the current game, because they didn't want to spoil the surprises.

In a Conquest, we will have players who know the conquest too well, who'll known exactly what will heppen. As such, I expect a conquest to be less "democratic" than an epic game, because there will be power players who'll be pretty much agreed on an optimal course of action. Since the victory conditions are clear in most conquests (score victory in Age of Discovery, wonder victory in Mesopotamia...), there won't even be the debate between peaceful or warlike strategies.

Epic Games are the ticket to continue having fun while disagreeing And debates, disagreements, and eventual common decisions are the spice of Democracy Games; if it wasn't for it, we should go to the Apolyton University instead.

If this looks just like GF posted, thats because it is.

We need to try this fuedal system, it has a lot of potential for role play and some other interesting situations, like different parts of the CIV (Kingdom) doing different things, etc.

Yet we have some great Conquests all ready to rumble.

Japan in the WWII South Pacific Conquest... could we win?

France in the Napoleonic Conquest... couls Europe fall to the French at last?

the conquests are jokes. i beat the ww2 pacific as japan in 21 turns. the AI has no concept of the victory conditions. sure, they station troops on VP spots, but they have no centralized strategy. They didn't even try to stop me from taking all of China. in fact, America only moved towards me three times, and all three times my Pearl Harbor fleet bombed the piss out of them.

Next thing you know, they'll be calls to have our charter depend upon our in game govt:

When Despotic : Someone takes the role of Leader and must do everything about the turn himself and stays in office indefinately and when done he appoints his successor.

When an Anarchy : Each citizen can move one millitary unit. They are not to consult with the other citizens in making the moves.

When a Monarchy : Someone takes the role of leader but is free to appoint others to help manage the military and cities. He appoints his successor when done. However, those he's appointed can attempt to overthrow him as King with 2/3rds support upon which the leader would be the new King.

When a Republic : Functions a lot like our standard rules without the executive veto.

When a Feudal govt: GF can describe this better than I can.

When a Democracy govt: Normal rules here apply.

When a Communist govt: Only those in support of the current govt allowed to run for office and only one candidate offered as a choice for each office. Head of the Communist Party decides who can run for each office.

When a Fascist govt: Fascist leader required to appoint leaders, but also must overrule some of his military advisors orders each turn. No elections after the inital instalment of the leader. Leader then bans those who voted against him from the game.
