Perhaps you should take a look at this thread for some advice on strengthening your economy without screwing your people over.
In brief: subsidize the auto industry (if you still have on; if not, you have a problem, because this is a superb way of boosting your economy), and put tarrifs up (if you want to allow trade with allies, just say they don't apply to them). If you give it some time, it works like a charm.
quote: Yeah but you'll have welfare, health etc to pay for and most of your people will be softy bank managers raking in all this money for you. Most of my cash just goes into the military |
And your point is...? Granted, I have to spend on these things (it's in my constitution, after all), but someone has to provide them, and that means they have to come out of your economy somewhere. Giving all your money to the military just screws everyone else over; it leaves no funds available to invest in further growth, and it leaves the general population impoverished and unhappy, thus forcing you to spend more to suppress them, making them even less happy... and so it goes.
Bottom line: the fact that I have priorities other than the military does not mean you can successfully outspend me just be hurling everything at your military. All you achieve is the destruction of your own society (which is fine, as long as you're prepared to accept it and RP it).

i mean you nervestaple people that takes a lot of effort
It takes more then government control to learn to overcome the crass demands of flesh and bone. It needs happy and devout people. Individuels that have chosen for a higher goal themselfs. Not forced upon them by a brilliant and cunning leader.
Still i admire your supreme power, but don't approve it |
Actually the Hive is one of the healthiest in apolyton if you keep an eye out for the next time that pops up, citizens are given regular injections and the nerve staple is administered at this time, add this to forced exercise and military training and everybody is in top notch condition. Citizens who do not receive these injections soon die due to the harsh environment.
As for welfare, every citizen has a job assigned to him/her, if they choose not to take this job then they can make their own way. (ouch i know :evilgrin)
My citizens know nothing of the outside worlds decadence of the flesh, they know only the way of enlightenment that I have shown them (mwhua ... mwhuhaha .... MWHUHAHAHAHA <-- :lol

my military pays well and food+housing is provided for, not much else is needed.

Sorry, just sounded like your first comment was aimed at saying you easily had alot more weaponary then us 3 put together, which i tried to counter with that won't really be true.
As for collapsing, my society is based around mass production, look at our trade surplus, its not in danger of collapsing any time soon, distant future....maybe useful for storylines.

And you know what that means? It means you are quite obviously not spending everything you have on your military, since that would result in your people being starving and sick, which they clearly are not.

No, it isn't true, but it isn't far from it, either. I have, as I said, about as much money as the three of you together, and I can spend much less, proprtionately, on my population than, say, FCL, or even Auldonina (to a lesser extent), because I have much more per person.

Well, since you quite obviously aren't doing the things I said would cause social collapse (spending everything on the miltiary and englecting your society), your nation isn't in any particular danger of collapse.

I've always said most, not all.

Capitalist countries only spend around 2-9% on military don't they ? will have to look for some sources, whereas i know north korea spends around 35% on theirs since theyve got no infrastructure to pay for. (yes i know people are starving, but theyre too brainwashed and fightened to say anything, even if they do theyre shot and nobody knows ... must be like drowning)

Well, you're clearly not spending 'most' of what you have on the military, either... a lot of resources have to stay in circulation jsut to keep the economy running, remember, which is North Korea's problem - too much of what little they have is being poured into the garbage bin. The limitations that prevent capialist nations from spending more than ~10% of their GDP on the military don't go away just because you have a state-run economy.
