Significantly less. According to the CIA World Factbook, the USA's GDP per capita is over $36 000... Australia's is only about $26 000. It should probably go to, say, Thriving (if that).

Israel does indeed have compulsory military service, as, I believe, do a number of countries in Europe (Switzerland?).

Switzerland has a compulsory military service but it has (i belief) no standard army, at least not a very large army. Switzerland has natural defences and has no need for a large army. Isreal on the other hand has a more then avarege army for a it's size so if you middle these two you'll have a accurate number i hope

My bestfriend from highschool served on the Reuben James (FFG-57), which is another Perry class destroyer, so I got to go on board and have a look around a few years ago.

Also, the USS Arizona monument in the background is a dead giveaway.
