Okay, I have a question.

The only options for defense priorites are "high" and "low". What do those mean exactly?

Some nations, for example, say "the government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Education, and Law and Order". (I think that's what mine says.) Some of them, I believe, mention Defense as a "secondary priority" or something like that.

The point being, that I think there are more than two possibilities for the way NationStates describes how much attention your nation pays to defense.

You have to enter your population in millions. So you would enter 2862.

Hmmm... well, at least it worked this time. It predicted my miltiary size at 18 260 690, but I would assume that it would be ok for people to RP as having less troops and more resources invested in other things (training, equipment, etc).

Absolutly.... I think this should be used only as a maximum forces...

I thinking of expanding the spreadshhet to allow a breakup into Navy, Army and Airforce, Perhaps i Could add a cell for allowing a Percentage of the Defnece budget to be spent on training etc...

any comments are appreciated, this spreadsheet just for us, so i happy to make it suit us ....

My view is neither space program nor compulsory military service would have an impact on the size of the standing military. The former means the military has higher technology, thus a greater strength, and the latter means the country could raise troops faster, particularly while defending an invasion.

yeah i wasnt 100% convinced aboiut the space program i will probably remove that . the only reason i see a benifit of comp service is that you will have a much larger group to draw yuor troops from so can maintian the size you want by simply putting them in .. with voluntary armys you may hav eless volunteers than you need.


of course the effectivenes of conscripts is probably lower than of volunteers so probalby cancles out th ebonus of larger forces...


as for fundamentalism i not sure that sreaming fanatics with guns ar ea match for armys, but i open to others thoughts...

I'd say Azan is a special case. Roleplay what you think is left over from the Old Republic, and any new forces you at to that should be based on New Azan numbers (or New Azan + Former Azan).

Number of people in the military, number of armor, number of planes, naval power, stuff like that.
