I've seen a world map with 320 x 320 size. It's huge, is it!
Well, I just wonder what kind of PC can run this thing, I have an AthlonXP 3200+, 1GB PC3200 box, will it be ok? Has anyone actually tried such big map?

No, but 250 with 24 civs on lots of water will press anything. I ran it last year on a 3GH.

I have settled into no larger than 250 by 250 until I upgrade my CPU to 3.0, it is 1.8 now with 1 gig of ram and an above average video card. However, I shy away from anywhere near 24 civs.

Thanks vmxa1, I found a 200 x 200 map is already very stressful on my PC.

I play on my p3m 800, 256 mb notebook and have no real problems with a huge map and 31 civs. I almost always play that way, in fact. Turns after Industrialisation take 10-15 minutes, though, without animations. I play at Uni, during class, so I don't really mind having to listen to the teachers between turns ;-)

Hi kermit,
when you say "when i try big maps, it clones my Capitol and puts around the Globe where there is free space.", what exactly should I do to "clone the Capital"?

I run at 3ghz and 512mb of Ram and it runs fine. Of course I only have PTW so I don't get to have as many civs going on my huge maps. At one point I did bring my clock back down to 2.6Ghz and there was a NOTICEABLE difference in the time it took for not just the AI to think, but for the game to re-figure traderoutes everytime I destroyed a road or city.
NOTE: I am not useing a old P4, I am useing the very latest(excluding prescott E-core) , the C-core, with Hyperthreading enabled.
THis game really is processor intensive. Ram-wise it is not, of course its nice to WISH and HOPEFULLY think that way, since Ram is so much easier to upgrade...
If you guys wanted, I could bring this game into the shop and test the **** out of it to trully see. My friend, has his P4 clocked at around 3.6Ghz and is running a gig of ram, and Raid 0 Raptor hardrives. On -that- machine..there is -no- lag.

Thanks. The credits on the Chinese site attributed it to El mercy.
