Alright fair enough, makes sense.
Leaves me with two questions.
Just so I know, the Hive is the biggie. But how big militarily is it compared to the military of say the average size of one of the other 10? Whichever one is say middle of the pack out of the others.
Two, rather than slow down the fun by having 10 against 1 now that the Hive has pulled out. Why not come up with an rp excuse to even up the sides a little player wise? It seems that you could roleplay a split between the defending forces, leaving FCL as a wildcard playing one against the other. This may not make immediate rp sense but it will let you very shortly return to a full out rpfest that filled 500 posts on the last thread and it wont put all of the pressure on one person to hold up one side of the whole struggle.

2. from a balance point of view, what you're saying makes perfect sense. The problem is, it just doesn't fit the character of (most of) the nations we're roleplaying. Auldoninna's already switched sides once, so it's possible, but the others that might are either too far away or too vulnerable to counter-attacks.

1. Hahaha. I can imagine, having read some of the military size threads. I just figured it might have been solved before the war. Ive been designing games for fun since I was small, if you want I could come up with a way to abstract military size that would take into consideration rp issues such as country size and economic strength as well as game balance, allowing everyone who wants to to take the field in some form.
2. From my perspective, and hence my arguement becomes: Instead of using this discussion to set rules (the turns rule might be something worth adopting whatever the form of the rest of the rp) to continue the struggle as is. Perhaps you could use it to brainstorm a way to have a schizm in the defending side of this fight make sense. It seems to me that it wouldnt take more than three of you to switch to the FCL side / or to form a third side in the struggle to make it all the more fun for everyone involved.
Having just one person on the other side is potentially rp-killingly troublematic. Memorial day weekend is coming up here in america, I dont know where FCL lives but two-three days away from his computer could drag everything to a permanent stop. This is all Im saying, I think you will all have more fun if you find a way to make it 7-4 or 7-3-1 or 4-3-5-2, etc.

Alright, long past my bedtime here, but let me leave you all with a suggestion:
FCL, having lost its staunch ally realizes the opposing force set against it will lead to its certain defeat. So, by a combination of subterfuge and black ops it manages to convince 2-3 of the allied nations that theyve been attacked by some/all of the others or vice versa. What you have then is an rp within an rp. You get to rp sudden mistrust between the allies while they try to piece together what really happened. FCL of course takes advantage of the situation for some short term gains.
What this gets you game wise is a chance to rp, a potential explanation for having some countries switch sides and/or kill some time in the hope that the Hive will return and you can get back to the rp you had started.

IF there is to be a split between ADU and the League/Auldoninna...
I'm sure the League could be slightly upset at Ceroo's deal with Azan to set up a base/trading post on the western egde of Azan in return for help in rebuilding Azan post-war.
Or, Ceroo and Guardinia did effectively say to FCL "be good or we're gonna get you" pre-war. What's to say once/if Azan is liberated Ceroo won't want to continue all the way to Ali'i City to topple the oppressive regime?
Point of post: if there is going to be a split, lets wait until there's reason enough to begin making cracks- not say there must be one- besides it's highly unlikely that there would be an out-and-out war between ADU and the League or any of their nations...

Let's not force a split for balance sake. If it happens, it should arise naturally from the roleplay.
The problem is, I just don't see how we can do it and remain consistent in character.
Karakas might switch sides, but that would be putting their own neck on the line for nothing. Auldoninna could have another one of it's patented change of heart (they see terrorists everywhere, afterall), but there's too much bad blood between Auldoninna and FCL. A march to Ali'i City might split the allies, but that would only really mean Basus and Jonchastan on the sidelines. Karakas would have no moral objection to it, and Azan might go along with the ADU to get revenge.
I think any conflicts that happen in the region should not be just for conflict's sake. We should roleplay our nations in character, and if conflict arises, deal with it in character.
