If you take a look at your first attempt at a table above, you'll see that there's a gap between your text and the table. It's caused by the hard returns and spaces in your table code.
If you use the [code]-tag, you can maintain the hard returns/spaces without that gap appearing.
As for the second question, you can just quote my message and copy the code there...
