	Rumored Changes to Star Wars Trilogy Full PM-box? Change here!

As many of you may already know, George Lucas is releasing the original Star Wars trilogy on DVD in late September, which IIRC is the first time he has done so. However, there have been rumors floating around, perhaps somewhat substantiated, that Lucas will be altering the original trilogy to better 'fit' with the abominable prequels.

One rumored change would occur in The Empire Strikes Back, when the Emperor is speaking to Darth Vader:



A second change, and perhaps far worse, would take place in Return of the Jedi. Of a similar nature, the change would entail altering the scene with Anakin Skywalker, Yoda and Kenobi, with this:



One must hope that these are merely rumors, that George Lucas would have the intelligence not to do this.

Please let this just be a crazy internet rumor.

And the first pic I really don't care if he fixes it, as there already was no emperor continuity between ESB and RotJ.

I just don't get it. Certainly Lucas has enough money that he could spend his days on a cruise. Instead, he just thinks of ways to ruin a film considered a classic by millions. Is it only a matter of time before Alec Guinness is completely removed from the film, replaced by McGregor?

I guess Lucas is of the mentality that if it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is.

I heard one rumor that they were going to do a pre-death star (as in pre by minutes) alderaan with Bail Organa (or was it Ugueth Urbina???) and Jar Jar....

Does Jar Jar die? Blasphemy be damned: If Spielberg commits sacrilege to kill Jar Jar off then any necessary changes are as good as cannon.

I could understand the first one, because the Emperor just doesn't look right, although the 'replacement' image looks like crap.

But the second would be unforgivable.

In terms of quality of characterization and depth of meaning, Buffy beats SW any day of the week.

I don't mind the changes. So what if the new Anakin is changed to Hayden... however, I think Lucas will 'age' Hayden for the DVD to make him look the same age. Hell, it's his movie, he can do whatever the Hell he wants with it. I'll buy it just the same.

The first change, as others have said, wouldn't be so bad, but the second change ... meh. If that happens, Lucas *definitely* needs to age Hayden so he matches the aged Yoda and Kenobi.
