If we have powers they should be as demented as the parties themselves- FE, the CPA would have a chairman and he could demand once per game that all CPA members PM him with their intended votes, and then 'exile' members who don't vote as he wants (3 turns can't vote).
SPAM members once per game get 3 votes, but can't vote for the same person more than once in that instance.

we should at least be able to get 16- over that many people are dead in the mafia game.

I think we may have gone overboard with all the extra powers. Also keep in mind that Assassins is the "B" game. Most people would probably prefer to play Mafia.

I really don't think that it is the powers. It is the one game or the other deal. It is hard enough to get players for a more complex game, you are shotting yourself in the foot to not let everyone play.

Personally, I really really really dislike open voting.

If powers are a problem, then I would say, let's not use them- but the powers and the closed voting are the only things that differentiates the games

well, in that case, if we have the powers, then I would be glad to let extra people play- but if we don't then the two games really are the same. (and honestly, that's the reason they games split into two in the first place, methinks... because of the overflow from mafia)

Assassins is really just the Mafia over-flow game, so I think there really isn't a big need to differentiate it too much. I think we should use it to experiment, though.

The powers idea was great, but I think maybe we should simplifiy it a bit. Otherwise it might intimidate new players from joining (which is the whole idea of assassins in the first place).

I think maybe we should relax the joining rule to prioritize people who aren't in the Mafia game instead of banning those who are.

I agree. People alive in the mafia game can join here too, but if the game is full and someone else wants to join, the mafia people get bumped off the list regardless of when they joined. Seems fair to me, although we will have to have a set standard period when joining the game is allowed, to give those who may want to join the chance to see the thread. A week, perhaps?

I think it is because of the rule of "mafia or assassins, not both". At some point it was bound to happen that the 2 games would end at the same time, and people would prefer to get into mafia if possible.
And not having done the closed voting yet, I can't comment on it. But I can say that experimental things tend to appeal to a smaller group than tried-n-true, if for no other reason than the t-n-t has already found it's niche.
