Like I said, I just don't care if it's serious, trolling or some appallingly cack-handed attempt at irony. It's horrible, and I've got a major problem with spinless little ***** using the safety of the internet to spout such things.

You would think with the name Captain Obvious that it would be obvious. Its no fun when its so easy. A few people were right, I wonder who?  Its like shooting fish in a barrel here. Even if you warn them.
I haven't seen your feelings on the subject on ACOL yet Laz. I would post a witty remark here, but you'd probably think I was being serious and start another thread on the topic.

Speaking as someone who has a Jewish wife, I have no time for the views of jerks like Captaon Obvious. That said, though, trying to silence him does not make the problem go away. One of the great strengths of Apolyton is the rational debate between people of different beliefs.
Just because this man honours Hitler is no reason for him to be silenced any more than I would wish to see people silenced who honour Jesus Christ.
Let us play to our rational strenths and not be weak-willed ostriches.

I should also add that he is not the only one who has expressed views of this ilk on these forums. However, maybe due to his name, these are the only times these get picked upon. Are we not just picking on the easy target, adopting emotive positions and superior stances and.... letting the other fish get away?

Incidentally, while we are in this holy cleaning of the stables mode and "can we do something about something". L&tG, as a result of surgery as a kid, I have one leg shorter than the other and was often insulted as "gimp" at school.
Maybe you want to reflect on that when casting stones elsewhere.

And he wasn't the only one advocating the extermination of whole groups of people.
My wife's mother is Sicilian....her father is Hungarian Jew. It bothers me. But when I see someone get warned and then told how this is taken seriously and not tolerated...and then I see other threads where nothing is said to certain people then I tend to think that a certain poster is warned due to a possible past type of facade/personna as seen by admins.
Just be equal in how you deal with these things and leave out the personal feelings.
I expect abit of professionalism from certain people and sometimes I get frustrated when I don't see it.

It was lacking in wit, but I wasn't serious... I could be serious, but then I wouldn't get in trouble. I would also become as backwards as many of the inbred hate mongers here. Seems if your serious about your hate here, you get away with it.
Hear that Kitty, we can bash people here if we are serious about it. Oh, and we put a smiley behind our post (even though we don't mean the smiley, just like others). I think kissing Mark's ass has something to do with it, but I'm not sure. We'd have to ask Imran.
What I see in this forum are mainly thin skinned kids who like to spout hate towards others, but when it is directed at them, even in jest, they can't take it.

Espousing their belief in the extermination of a race is completely ridiculous. It is an example of your infantile and witless sense of humor. It would take a comedic master to make that even remotely humorous--and you aint it.
As for L&TG's handle...interesting point, but a bit on the grasping side. A direct threat to someone is one thing...indirect offense, taken in personal context when the offender is unaware of the implications, is a misunderstanding. It is also based on a movie character.
Grow some armor, Brian. How often do you see/hear the word bastard used? Well, I'm one, but I've learned that it is not personal. Sure, it is a reminder that people often do not consider the impact of their words, but learn to wear it as a badge of honor. Now we get to join the untold millions who are disparaged by society. Gee, aren't we special.
Captain Dipstick has a valid point. We cannot expect moderation to be perfect, but when someone of his limited intelligence and sensitivity wields "humor" as a blunt and savage instrument, it is best for smarter and wiser people to step in and do something about it.
We can only hope that the mods are as discerning as possible (which they usually are) and continue to apply the same principles to all cases.

These are only examples found after browsing a total of maybe six to eight threads around in the past 24 hours, and not reading any of them in detail. I'm sure there are many many more. The sad thing about all of this is that these people are serious about there remarks it seems. I even avoided the religous threads, as that wouldn't be fair to the hate-mongers to bag them there.
SuperSnk: Yeah, I'm grasping, but isn't that what Laz is doing.. or is he just so gullible to think that such obvious trolls are real. I didn't say Genocide was funny, what was funny was that people took it so seriously while ignoring the rest of the hate in the forums - some of which implies genocide as well. It was so obvious I that it was a troll. The point of the post was to see how many people would bite at something so obvious. No one that I talked to thought they would, as it was obvious. I proved them wrong. I'll do subtle later on... probably next month when I can change my name again. Until then, its only OBVIOUS..hence the name. Read my profile, what does it say? That's an interesting phenomenon. Go toe to toe with a troll, and nine times out of ten they'll drop their mask and attempt a break for the moral high ground. They'll also start taking things seriously.
Second interesting point. Until I watched "Pulp Fiction", I had never heard the expression "gimp" and had no idea what it meant until someone mentioned it here a couple of months ago. Unlikely claim? Hardly. It just never made the journey to Somerset.
Still, as I've offered here on several occasions, if anyone is offended by it, I'll change it. Well Brian? Well Trippin'? Your call....

I like Ming too.
I have found that there are 3 groups of posters. The nuts, they post in the steriotypical threads, gun control, christ for life, that sort f thing. 2- The normal (OK, bad phrase) who post in the more entertaining threads, and 3- floaters. I post in any thread that looks decent. Most of these are by the normal or floaters.
I also post in the nut threads if they are new. If a crazy thread is under 20 or so replies I will post something just to get them riled up. These people are there to mentally masturbate. I can just imagine them tugging on a fist of hair, pounding into the keyboard, foamy spit frothing, replying to me.
Trip is just not as subtle as I am. Where I will imply something horrible and wait for a reaction, then custom my false beliefs to the outrage expressed, he goes in full force to piss everyone off. (I get a good laugh at least from him)
I try to walk an entertaining edge. Also, if one of the non nuts gets upset I send them a PM to explain. DanS got really upset about one thing. I sent him a message and he decided it was funny. Ming has said that he laugs his ass off while deleting my threads. I am just making him enjoy his job!
In the end however, I agree with Trip's statement. I have read thread after thread of hatefull propaganda. I have seriously mentioned my problems with some things to Ming as MarkG said to do. They are still there. Trip was just pointing out a truth the worst way, by showing a mirror. The racist comments are obvious. A different problem may be a point of perspective. The evangelistic threads are extreely offensive. I get the feeling that most christians look at it, roll thier eyes and accept that there are people like that. It is different for non-christians. If a group of Witnesses or Mormons started spamming the forum with antichristian threads would they last? Apolyton has numerous gay posters. There have been plenty of nuts slandering us.
So MikeH, I encourage you to continue to do goofy entertaining things with me. I will continue as I have, making Ming post <center><table width=80%><tr><td><font color=000080 face="Verdana" size=2><font size="1">quote:

If that was Trip's intention, Kitty, then the people he most pissed off were his natural allies. As far as I could see, it was just another raging bigoted **** or crass clown who badly needed a good slap. As I couldn't provide that service I was restricted to just calling him an arsehole, like I would anyone else who posted crap like that.
Personally I think it was just trolling, however.
