You have my sympathy re: coffee migraines. I have a friend in a similar situation- can't even have chocolate.

Do you have a British Airways Barbie? I bought one for our niece- available only on British Airways flights from the duty free collection.

Only problem is, the knickers are always falling down.

Suffering from ads?

I do have chocolate ocassionally...but I restrict my intake until before 8pm. Otherwise I turn into a gremlin.

I don't have british airways barbie. I decided to concentrate in a section I particularly like, which is the silkstone type barbie. If I ever bother with vinyl dolls it is actually to get the outfit...then give the doll to my niece.

What's wrong with guys? I mean, what is it about men that makes them refuse to admit that they've freakin' grown up?

Men have a very fragile ego. It is really the same thing that makes them compare sizes in the showers and buy monster trucks later.

Eh, I agree with the ego thing, but it still doesn't answer my question. Imho, of course.

Some men have no problems accepting their adult responsibilities. However (and this might be the increasingly cynical, increasingly older part of me), it seems like the majority have a problem letting go of their teenage years - it's like if they admit they have a kid and a wife, and responsibilities to said kid and wife (responsibilities which limit their participation in once-fun activities), they expect a part of themselves to die, to no longer enjoy life.

That, to me, is so tragic. Being a kid, even an older in-my-20s kid, sucked. Being an adult rocks. Period. There is nothing more enjoyable than being responsible for your own life.

Women of course never compare arse sizes, or bosoms
(yeah, right).

For monster trucks, read : shoes.

Unless you're a butch lesbian, in which case, check/plaid shirts, or work boots.

My theory on this is that there is something that went amiss in their younger years and they want to make up for it. That and the fact that they've grown up in every other way than emotionally...
It also has to do a lot with the selfishness that involves not having all the attention/love/toys/you name it. I've found that happens especially with guys that were only children and/or had to take care of business since a young age.

I don't bother comparing. I get enough pressure from fashion magazines and adverts.

The mystique behind shoes is the following:
there will always be the perfect shoe for a specific outfit, and they usually FIT.
It works similarly for handbags.

I had to adjudicate as to who had the shapeliest behind out of several butch dykes.

I think I used several years' worth of tact up in one evening.

I always found the handbag/purse and shoe things really strange.

I thought it was some kind of O.C.D. affliction, but at least it's not as bad as the Nick Hornby 'alphabetizing records' disorder.

It's books with me.

Can never have too many, except when they crush a distant relative to death and you only find the desiccated remains when you move house.

It depends on anybody's tastes. Whatever would make anyone happy is within their own realm.
But I'd still like to point out there is a big difference between being childlike and CHILDISH.

I think it is healthy to pretend play. I assume everyone has done it through their childhood as it is necessary for children to be able to identify roles and attaining social skills.

There are parents that are overly worried about their boys fluctuating to the "other side" and forbid dolls. I think it is just a matter of guidance.

And no, my son doesn't play with my dolls.

AS, at your age, I was in many ways similiar to you. When I realized and truly accepted that girls don't want to be placed on a pedestal and they can smell desperation a mile away, that was when I started getting girls. You also don't need the most fashionable clothes, cologne, smooth lines, or whatever. Just be yourself (minus the desperation and silly notions you may have about love, romance, and so on), and someone will take an interest in you. Of course, having good hygienic habits help. And here's a shocker - you don't even have to be movie-star/model handsome. Most of the time girls want a real human being.

Anyway, like they say about horse and water...

LTEC - Tequila ice cream? Perhaps homemade by any chance? That does sound like something I'd like to taste. Perhaps I'll experiment someday after I've completely settled into my new place.

Not homemade. I wouldn't know how to make it...

Tepoznieves is the name of the place that manufactures it. I believe there are a couple ice cream makers that market tequila ice cream as well.

Tell me the irony was intended. Please.

I've never felt able to control who I am, so I tend to assume whomever I'm being is myself. It doesn't seem to get me alot of girls.

He is. I don't see how that lessens the irony of telling someone to be himself, except for his major characteristica in the field we're discussing.

The second part was just a tangential personal admission.

However, the way that I read Speer's comments is that he is not being himself, he's being the sort of guy that he thinks girls like.

The I'm going out of my way to be nice so you'll like me...is an ACT and most girls will figure it out quickly enough.

When someone has approached me in that manner I can only wonder what the person is -really- like once the act is over.

JohnT's right but I suppose you could say that it could apply to people in general. What can I really say? Life can be cruel. *shrug* Doesn't mean you have to contribute to the situation.

There are some things about yourself you can change, and there are some that you probably can't. My only real advice is to take a hard look at yourself and if you want to do something about yourself, do it. When I was 18, I had a very thin skin and ultra sensitive. I decided I didn't want to be like that anymore so I... changed. The result: people find me more likable.

LTEC, I got a question. I'm sure there're plenty of American tourists visiting northwestern Mexico. I know I was one of them . What's the most annoying thing about them and what they do? Perhaps a piece of advice for them?
