Also a welcome from me, recruit Modo!
GIMME FOURTY PUSHUPS!!!
Ah good... Finished in under thirty seconds. That's a rather good time. Perhaps we could
make a good Spartan citizen out of you.
As a citizen of the Spartan Federation, let me give you a brief introduction of our current
in-game situation.
We are currently at MY 2149 in the game, and are the second most powerful human faction. Due
to our early focus on naval exploration we are the only faction to have already met all
seven human factions. We have used these many contacts to arrange many lucrative tech
trades. As a consequence we are the most technologically advanced faction at the moment.
However because of all this trading our research costs have skyrocketed, meaning we probably
won't research any techs ourselves in the next couple decades.
Our naval superiority combined with a focus on building probes has also given us
infiltration on our three neighbours: the Hive, the University (both AIs), and the
Morganites: a human faction. That still leaves the Peacekeepers (AI), Gaians and Angels
(both humans) uninfiltrated.
However we are making plans to infiltrate them as well. As we will soon construct the
Command Nexus and Maritime Control Center, we will soon have high morale probes and the
fastest ships on Chiron, so infiltration should be relatively easy.
Another important event is that in two years, after long preparations we will at last begin
invasion of our eastern neighbur the University. Hopefully this will herald the start of our
march toward victory!
In short, this is a very interesting time to be a Spartan, and it keeps getting more and
more interesting!
Btw, if you want to have a look at some important threads, check out "the factional
datalinks". The thread could use some updating, but it still contains useful links to
important threads to get up-to-date.
Both links to gameplay threads ánd roleplay threads, such as our Phalanx Editorial Office
('The Phalanx' is our newspaper), the story thread and the One Sentence IC Story. Lots of
opportunities to have fun. I hope you will!

Okay, thanks for the warm walcome and for the info. Now, as expected, even more questions come to mind. Also, there's a request. So beware of answering any.
First of all, not having SMAX hurts my understanding of our position in the game. I can't check what is being built where (and how long it will take to finish), I can't check the numbers and stats of our units. AFAIK, I'm not the only Spartan not able to load the save. Having to ask questions is not a solution in the long run. An easy way to help this would be to post the F4 (Production) and F7 screens along with the turn map. This way, one could quickly see what is happening and where. This more precise info just might pull people out of lurking mode, methinks.
There's the thing about the command over those 3 non-combat ships, that was mentioned. How do I do it officially, and where (in which thread)?
Also, is there a thread for long-term military strategy? I only found one concerning domestics so far. I mean military forces development and organization, not so much the invasions going on at the moment. We do have a long-term strategy, right?

The current map thread (second sticky) gets updated pretty much every turn

Right now they're part of the Spartan Engineering Corps, but we'll commission a Spartan Transport Corps and find a good logo from somewhere, then we can announce it in the Phalanx

Make sure that you visit pages 2 and 3 of this forum. Militrary strategy was dealt with in several threads - I'll see if I can dredge them up and bump them (we haven't revisited them since we decided on the Uni invasion, that's why they've slipped to pages 2 and 3)

Hmm - that seems a bit high (we are all trying to keep our ranks below Colonel, or its equivalent (in deference to Colonel Santiago)
So the highest Navy ranking (Dissident) would be Commander, with the Western, Southern and Transport Fleet CO's being Lt. Commanders
(But any rank, when in charge of a vessel, is a Captain, hence Lt. Commander Primus Pilus, Captain of the SCC Hunter)
So you'd be Lt. Commander Modo ( )
Compare (British Armed Forces):
