Hello. I'm rather new to this whole board/etc but I love AC and still play it regularly to this day. How exactly do I go about getting recruited? Thanks!

Hi.
I've played AC before, and was thinking about joining a faction for the recent game, but I had a few questions to ask first:
1.) I understand how the actual PC game works, but I'm more interested in the role-playing. How do the two intertwine? For example: will one faction decide to try to initiate war or try to declare a peace treaty because of actions in the role-playing, or is it more the players try to declare war or a peace treaty and the roleplaying community reacts?
2.) I get lost in the message boards sometimes. Is there a thread with a general history of the game thus far, or is it the responsibilty of each faction? I think it would be fun to write some history documents for the enjoyment of participants to "look back upon", as well as for new members thinking of joining being able to easily take a look at the state of the world and decide what would be the faction they would wish to join.

I'd say usually actual game strategy influences peace or war, and the roleplaying element is secondary to that and reacts to it accordingly. This has been the case in former games, as far as I know - for instance, ACDG2 had a Drone-Hive alliance, which doesn't' seem too likely roleplaying-wise.

The official historians were supposed to do this, as far as I know, but due to various reasons they are pretty much on permanent leave. I've been working on this the last few days, a guide to provide a basic introduction to a new Spartan recruit, the main principles of what's happened, what we're planning to do, etc.
I didn't start to think of getting aboard ACDG2 until it was about at this stage, but by then it had gotten too big to jump in. I almost had the same happen to me in this game too, but I managed to end my hiatus just when things got complicated.
