Yes, you claim the poll is accurate when you think it supports your position, and then you claim it is not accurate when it shows your opinion is faulty.

Even so, this does nothing to affect the argument that the poll finds the majority of Canadians disaffected by the status quo, but rather supports the contention.
|
And then you said the poll is inaccurate because of the questions were not clear so it doesn't indicate what people really think.
How's the view down there in that hole you're digging.

Incidentally, I should point out that trying to convince the average Albertan to change his or her poitical beliefs is about as productive as trying to convince Ben to be an atheist, or someone from Ontario or Quebec that a PM from the West could be a good thing.
|
I've never heard anyone saying "don't vote for him because he's from the west."
But of course we didn't have any political leaders from the west in this election.

I know. I'm just wondering the same thing you are (if Albertans are so complacent about provincial politics then why do they love stirring up trouble at the federal level)
I think it's because the province loves its victim mentality, just like Quebec... |
I don't think that's it. I think the province is fine with itself, even if Calgary sucks to an Edmontonian, Edmonton sucks to a Calgarian, and big city folks are just plain strange to everyone else outside of Red Deer.
Of course, at one time, the French of Quebec did have something to ***** about, non?
Likewise, the average person here really does have a problem with how the country is run. That goes all the way back to the Crow, way before the NEP. So most people align themselves with the party they think will change things, and are repeatedly dissapointed when the people of Ontario and Quebec decide otherwise.
What they really don't like is being betrayed, dismissed or derided. They felt betrayed when Mulroney awarded patronage to Quebec and elsewhere when Western firms had better claims to the plumbs (better bids). they felt dismissed by Mulroney with his constitutional tinkering, and they've felt derided ever since when their reaction (Manning and Reform) were greeted the way they have been.
Klein put his head in the mouth of the lion when he spouted off during the campaign. Martin started to make hey with it. Klein then announced spending increases and nothing else as far as reform is concerned. For the trouble of being maligned nationally during a federal election campaign, the people of Alberta were then presented with a bill for massive spending increases, no reform of the system, and a party they pinned hopes on being thrashed in Ontario due to 'evil Albertan barbarians threatening health care'...
Klein is toast.

You didn't listen to Martin on health care.
You must have missed the reference to barbarians at the gates.
You obviously missed the reference to Nazis.
|
Yes, I don't recall Martin saying that the Conservatives were "Nazis". Yes, I missed the reference to "barbarians at the gates".
Even if he did say that, those phrases do not automatically equal westerners. Unless he said westerners are nazis and barbarians.

Just like 20 years ago you had something to ***** about. I guess we'll be dealing with the fallout for the next 300 years or so... |
You, and others, reject regional power.
As our own little country, we would have all the power.
What holds Albertans? Why should they stick?
I want us to. I want this thing to work. But when the PM can get up during a national election campaign and use the word 'Alberta' to win votes in Ontario and Quebec, I can't fault people around me for thinking they don't need that ****. I know I don't
Yes, you can look for an uptick in support for seperatists out here. Not much, I hope. But then you never know out here. Like I said, people get pissed off and move their trenches real sudden like. Like I have said before, Alberta won't threaten and then stay. If people get pissed off enough that a vote is held, we're as good as gone.

Just did a google search for Paul Martin and barbarians at the gate.
Martin didn't say it.
The mayor of Vancouver said it.

Seems to me this is another case of where someone says something you don't like so you blame it on them Easterners.
I simply have a hard time believing that Martin said Westerners were Nazis or barbarians.
But if you have proof let's see it.

Nye, take a deep breath and calm down. You're babbingly incoherently again.
Let's take this from the top.
You launched on your usual rant about evil Easterners. (Your bias is getting quite boring)
I pointed out that I have never heard someone from the East saying "don't vote for him because he's from the west."
You then started ranting about how Martin and other Easterners attacked the beliefs that Westerners hold dear.
But it was a Westerner who said "barbarians at the gate".
If you weren't such a racist, you might be able to understand that many Canadians throughout the country, including many people in West, disagree with the Conservatives.
It has nothing to do with East vs West.
And the only people who constantly attack people on the basis of East vs West are people like you.
