The Soviet Premier appears to be in perfectly good health considering his age, so update will come tonight.

NM, it's no big deal, military orders are assumed to be classified, but it does help to remove some of the guesswork if you use "SECRET tags" (which is not to say secret orders are impenetrable, they can be found out with sufficient espionage, but they indicate that special care is being taken to keep things hidden)

I'm very sorry. Due to my poor planning, the update remains unfinished and now I am leaving for 3 days. But when I return, I will bend my whole will towards completing it!
See you later, Micha.

January through June 1951

Poloxia

Poloxia declared an embargo against the U.S. Polish Americans unanimously ignore the Poloxian government’s request. One Wisconsonian was quoted as saying, “Perhaps if Steve ‘n Frenchy were still in charge, I might consider their request. I trusted them. But this new guy, who does he think he is?” This civilian was promptly arrested for treason, tried (in Kenosha’s brand new “We Love Joseph McCarthy More Than Those Reds in Madison Courthouse”) and ceremonially drawn and quartered to a stirring rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner”.

East Germany

The industrious East Germans push forward new industrial complexes, greatly expanding their manufacturing output. One new complex lies only a little ways from land that used to be part of Germany, but according to Soviet decree is now part of Poland. In this part of the world, the word of the USSR is law, so for now, Poland it shall remain.
East Germany is Great, and getting better. With your support the Socialist Party will make it Perfect. this message brought to you by the DDR National School System and the Parent’s Council
The “World Festival of Youth and Students” is expected to have a fairly high turnout in the coming month, but East Germany’s isolation and the straining of East-West tensions is suspected to severely limit any participation from Western Countries.
Most of the world’s countries, West Germany not among them, have finally recognized East Germany as a sovereign nation. Thus the IOC has granted East Germany a place in the Olympics.
The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has responded favorably to East Germany’s diplomatic offers, and look forwards to implementing them as soon as logistics will allow for that.

Yugoslavia

Tito orders the building of shipyards. Austria wonders how the hell this is good for them, but the Marshall is such a likeable guy that they’ll take his word for it. So basically they agree to the port/railroad proposal, but they think it only fair if Yugoslavia shoulders a bit more of the initial costs, say 60/40.
Despite its small size and weakened conditions, Yugoslavia is rapidly becoming one of the most rapidly developing “Communist” countries. With Tito directly overseeing development and building projects, corruption is less rampant than in many larger communist nations. Yugoslavia’s no-collectivization policy is also notable in its contrast. The Soviet Union has thoroughly denounced the system as a “corrupt scheme to steal the workers of their due” and a plan initiated by “capitalist pig-wolves masquerading in good, hard-working, proletarian sheep’s clothing”. Tito maintains that his system is the truest and best form of Communism.
Despite the growth of physical infrastructure and industry, most Yugoslavians haven’t experience much in the way of improvements in standards of living. The economic basis for real improvement now exists, it is mostly regulatory policies that prevent expansion, but with the Party and Government easing up the potential for growth appears solid.
The Italians wonder about the Yugoslavian army near their border, but nothing happens.
The opening of Yugoslavian borders has met with mixed success. On the one hand, some people are fleeing the country (though surprisingly few, given the circumstances), on the other, trade, innovation, and research is stimulated a little bit.
Greece regrets to inform Yugoslavia that they are presently unable to engage in any alliance.
Turkey, however, is interested in the proposal, and wishes to hear more details.

Finland

An eye in the forming European storm, Finland continues to focus its attention on raising standards of living and industrial competitiveness, but many wonder if their will be a world to come to their Olympics by the time 1952 rolls around, and more immediately important, the stress on the world market threatens to stall Finland’s economic efforts, although of course disrupted trade patterns could end up being to their advantage. Such is the unpredictability of world trade.
Finland and Yugoslavia have also grown closer diplomatically after an exchange of students and engineers. Both countries’ people see a common situation that they face, trying to remain independent in this polar world.

Israel

The perimeter Defense Wall has been completed, but with the near-total animosity of the surrounding Arab countries threatening to boil over into open war again, perhaps no amount of fortifications may be enough. The diplomatic crisis is worsened by the Israeli government’s own hawkish stance.
Apparently in response to their undeniably vulnerable position, Israel’s military is being enlarged and modernized, with help from the U.S. Since neither oceans nor large swaths of land can protect Israel, they are doing their best to ensure that their growing armed forces will be able to.
In secret, Israeli engineers have just built their first nuclear bomb. Or assembled, really, since 99% of the work was done by American technicians. Even though Israel will still be reliant on the US for materials and equipment, as their experience with this form of weapon grows their technical skills and self-sufficiency will increase. More bombs are in the production stages.
Discontent is rising among Israel’s significant Palestinian population. Nothing has come of it yet, but the fortifications cutting Palestinians off from their families on the other side has done nothing to relieve tensions inside or outside the country.

China

Using new hardy crop varieties and military labor, China is now making use of previously unproductive land. Economic diversification takes a few workers away from industrial persuits, but allows for peasants to work at traditional artisan activities, making available some much needed amenities and goods to the population.
Once again, the SE coastal cities receive the majority of labor and equipment while interior and rural regions develop slowly or not at all. Ports are being enlarged and harbors extended.
Some soldiers have been released from duty into industrial sectors, often factories for building better weapons and equipment to improve the fighting abilities of the military, which is largely stationed conspicuously across the straight from renegade Taiwan. Hmmm, wonder what those harbors will be used for?
The USSR has sold a handful of fighter jets to China for a moderate sum. They are older jets, with limited range and armaments, and difficult to handle, but will increase the capabilities of the air force a little bit, and provide good training to China's fledgling corps of pilots.
In diplomacy, India and Pakistan remain neutral towards China. Pakistan offers that perhaps trade relation can be opened up. India suggests that their border disputes with China can be resolved and then they can move forward diplomatically. Laos' stance suggests that they may be open to an alliance with China, and the Vietnamese guerrilas are very open to a working relationship. The rest of the region's countries offer polite nothings, flowery meaningless diplomacy that basically means they want the status quo for the time being.
In espionage, Chinese agents haven't found any foreign spies aside from a few not-very-deep observers. China's actions are polarizing the Taiwanese population: The anti-communists are agitated, and pro-communists, while still attempting to organize, are bolstered by what they see as possible preparations for their liberation, but they are by far the lesser percentage, and are becoming increasingly marginalized.
Secret Research: Who knows what projects lurk in the hearts of research laboratories? The Chairman knows. Muahahahahahaha!
Promotion of academics and technology has resulted in more ingenious devices and organization structures for military and civil projects, but the Party has also noticed this policy has created tensions between Communist ideology and traditional Chinese academia. There are indications that too open forums may even harbor Counter-Revolutionary sentiments!
China invades the “province” of Tibet. Many locals vigorously oppose the attack, taking up whatever limited arms they can produce. Despite this, the terrain, size, and poor supply lines to Tibet make the invasion a slow undertaking.

Australia

The leader of Australia has unexpectedly and unexplainably died. But he must have died happy, because it happened only hours after he set the World Record for most beer consumed in a single sitting.

USA

U.S. Launches invasion of Cuba! For details, see ‘Cuba’ section.
The U.S. invasion brings America and the USSR closer to war than they have ever been before. Within a week of the attack, American and Soviet ships and submarines started dueling with each other in the Pacific and the Atlantic as the Soviets attempt to bring their navy decidedly within the US sphere of influence and attempt to back up Cuba. The nation is now on the highest possible peacetime alert, and fear and paranoia grips both countries as the world seems to be teetering on the edge of the nuclear precipice.
Loans go out to Yugoslavia, and the two countries also draw closer together diplomatically, but a full alliance still waits on Yugoslavia’s acceptance of the U.S. terms.
American and South Korean agents struggle in the shadows with their Soviet and DPRK counterparts on the Korean peninsula. The outcome, if any, of their endeavors is uncertain, but for the time being the Korean underground is surviving despite being ruthlessly targeted by the DPRK’s espionage arm, thanks in large part to aid from the recently renovated and reorganized American intelligence service. U.S. espionage now has a wider and more effective reach into both the high and low places of the world, and new is able to respond more quickly to threats, but due to recent events is stretched too thin for comfort.
Diplomatic relations with the Arab states have chilled almost to freezing since it has become know that the U.S. is providing direct and substantial military aid to Israel. There are even rumors that the Israelis have turned their efforts toward the pursuit of acquiring nuclear weapons, possibly with American aid. Several Arab statesmen have declared that should this prove to be true, they will be forced to seek nuclear capabilities of their own. Already there are reports that several Mid East states are feeling out a potential relationship with the USSR.

Cuba

The US has successfully established a foot hold but is having trouble penetrating inland. U.S. bombing campaigns have eliminated some defenses, but are less effective then hoped for by US planners due to the dispersion of Cuban forces. Most of the population resists heavily and Soviet naval disruption is causing some problems for the Americans. Cuban propaganda is making wide use of stories about American “atrocities”, and US soldier are quickly learning that force begets force, and they have to contend with pretty much the entire population of Cuba, any of which could be out to kill them. Many un-uniformed Cuban combatants have been executed in retaliation for ambushes of US soldiers. The things that happen to captured American soldiers aren’t usually pretty. The fighting gets more and more brutal every day.

Other News

Whipped into a fury by the “imperialist aggression” of the U.S. invasion of Cuba, the Soviets are gathering forces and look like they might invade Europe. Western Europe collectively holds its breath and turns blue and almost passes out and dies, but breath in just in time, because they wouldn’t want to make things any easier for the Russians, now would they? Regardless, things in Europe are very, very, tense.

King Farouk, orders all military units to pull back at least 20 miles from the Israeli border and asks Israel to do the same. “The people of this region have been the tools of imperialism for too long. Before we head down that road again, ask yourself what you stand to gain by another war.” The King was overheard to tell a waiter at the New York TGI Fridays.

The redeployment of forces is used as an opportunity to practice retreat. “We do not need a large military, especially if we focus our training in the maneuvers that our generals have found to be most effective for our style of warfare.” A Large combined arms exercise is staged near Suez however. "We are focusing on improveing the effectiveness of our military without having to invest in expensive foreign weapon systems, with their foreign instructors and mechanics." Egypts military guy said to no one in particular.

Wiping a tiny bit of mustard from his mustache King Farouk addressed the UN. "As the recent example of N Korea shows peace cannot be imposed upon an unwilling population by repression. A real peace should offer not just the threat of retaliation, but also a better life and greater opportunity, much like the peace that I am trying to forge in the Middle East. I ask this august body to help me bring peace to a region that has known war for to long. Will the UN help me bring hope to Egypt? With your financial and technical assistance I plan to build a dam across the Nile, a dam that will control the devastation brought by drought and flood, a dam that will provide electricity for dish washers, a dam that will let me say dam in almost every post. Will you not give a dam for peace?" He had more, but decided to cut it off early in favor of a Marie Callender's rhubarb pie.

Start over? Did you read that last update? Its nothing but action! If this game doesn't suck people in then they are the ones that suck.

But if they don't come for the action then maybe they will come to learn dance moves from this banana.
