It's driving me mad! I don't mind advertising, I understand the need for it and accept it fully. I would even accept the odd pop-up if it happen once, I closed it, and that was the end of it, despite it being annoying. But the damn thing pops-up everytime one views a new-page. This is one very aggresive pop-up that is ruining the Apolyton experience for me, and others aswell. That seems clear enough. Get rid of the pop-up, or there will just be less people to advertise too. It really is that simple.

Thanks connor for the link. Pop up adds are bull****. Why does ebay even need to advertise? Its one of the most popular webpages, pretty much everyone knows about it. If this proxomitron really works I don't think I'll ever uninstall it.

This is so pathetic, I don't mind the banners if they just sit there. But if they start poping up, or if they're some java applet that slows down my browser, then all it is doing is PISSING me off. It's going to drive me away. these advertisers are the core of dumbasses. Trying to scare everyone away from the company, trying to get everyone to hate them. Screw Ebay's advertisements.
And screw all the advertisers who keep advertising the same old damn thing. It's even worse when its boring info, etc.
Why don't we all just sent an email or petition to get rid of this annoying popup crap? It's going to kill Apolyton. And i'm pretty sure gamestats doesn't want that. I wonder why its so hard for companies to understand that things that are annoying drive people away!? (not directed at gamestats)

One question: do you get paid every time an ad is viewed or every time it's clicked on? If it's the first, then I wouldn't mind having Proxomitron bust just the pop-ups and not all ads, although this surely means more unwanted downloads from my side. If it's the second, then the ad-buster will be permanent for me, with or without pop-ups.
<img src=/forums/"/images/blue1.gif" width=100% height=1></font></td></tr></table></center>in the end, all it matters is if people click. directly(on the per click) or indirectly(on the per view), if you click you're helping the site
if you dont...

This sort of thing never happens at Newsmax. I guess that's because UGO knows if they did it there they and E Bay probably end up getting a ticking truck full of fertiliser chemicals parked outside their offices

At the other hand. A wise marketing guy (at gamestead? I understand Mark cann't help it, although he could at least complain to this marketing guy ) would not accept a banner supplier to deliver pop-up windows.
<img src=/forums/"/images/blue1.gif" width=100% height=1></font></td></tr></table></center>be sure that Gamestats is aware of the complaints. still, we live in hard times for internet advertising. ad networks of all kinds(pay per view, pay per click, affiliate programs, etc) are closing one after the other....

Lets straight things up!
Moving a web site to another web hosting company would be a painfull procedure. As I have understand from the whole conversation here as long as ACS is hosted on GameStats some banners will comes from them and not from Apolyton. One of these I guess is this popup window. I don't have any problem with the banners. They are usefull and I click on them quit often. Some intersting things are advertised indeed. But having a popup window is the worst kind of advertisement. It seems that this kind of advertisement has come from TV where they "popup" advertising spots all the time.
The thing is that Mark and Dan have to send an email if they already haven't to the Gamestats and inform them that surfers are seriously annoyed and against the popup windows. And the complaints from day to day are incrising. This popup might indeed enforce some gamers to go to other related web sites and this shouldn't happened. ACS is the best and must remain the best.
Time will show...

I'm having a strange problem that only just started after the appearance of these ebay windows. My top navigation controls for Netscape keep disappearing! This only happens at Apolyton, and only when the ebay windows are there. Anybody else have this problem?
<img src=/forums/"/images/blue1.gif" width=100% height=1></font></td></tr></table></center>
That is indeed a serious problem!
I use IE as most of us I guess.
No such problem.

Ok, I am going to state some facts that are true as far as my usage of Apolyton goes:
fact #1 - the E-Bay pop up ad pops up ON TOP of the Apolyton window, in spite of the myth that others have said it pops up behind it
fact #2 - the E-Baby window pops up repeatedly, although not consistently, when you're navigating back and forth, in spite of the myth that some people have said all you have to do is keep it open or mininmized to prevent it from coming up again
<img src=/forums/"/images/blue1.gif" width=100% height=1></font></td></tr></table></center>
I have never seen it appearing in front of Apolyton's web page.
If I won't close it it won't appear twise or more.
I guess that has someting to do with the browser you use, its version or the settings.
But even this way it's annoying.

I am still getting it. And if I close it, it will just pop-up again, when I look at a new page.

I do Mark. It didn't take long to work that one out. I just tested it before I posted. To see if it was now less agressive.
