Werner von Braun was taken to the USA by the US militairy when they captured him in Nazi Germany. I do not have any specific details, but I'm pretty sure he was taken sort of like a prisoner of war. I wouldn't be surprised if the reason for his transport was in the realm of crimes against humanity ( as him bearing significant responsibility for the rocket attacks on Brittain with V-1's and V-2's.) No doubt strategic considerations were responsible he didn't face significant penelty, but he was put to service in the US rocket program.
You are probably right that he attained US citizenship, but again that doesn't have to do with his love for the USA, but more with the fact he would face prosecution in the newly formed German Federal Republic.
I wouldn't say he was an immigrant in the classical sense.

germanos, right, I saw a documentary on Discovery about this actually. I don't know how he was treated, but they used the word deflected, that is when the war was over, he deflected to the US and he was working for NASA. His experience and knowledge in rocket technology was absolutely essential. Though he had been part of developing weapons that killed many people, he was mostly just interested in flying. Flying stuff, flying to space. Space was his fantasy all along, then Hitler and war came, and he had the opportunity to have better resources, and though it meant developing weapons, he could still design and do things he wanted, those rockets. He also supposedly had many ideas in the makings but Allied were able to bomb the factories so good sometimes they didn't just work out, but the US supposedly wanted him because of his special kind of knowledge, and was treated more like a scientist than a nazi. But then again, he was more of a scientist.
