Turn Session 5 - get your orders in Remove this text

I see things are running happily away with trading etc, and whilst that is all far beyond me, I am going to keep my head at the part I understand - the gameplay

Consider this a gentle nudge to start looking at orders for the next turnset. Post them here, and also post if they are incomplete or to be finalised. I'll next play when we get complete orders in for at least another half dozen turns (hopefully ten or more).

Also, do I have to schedule a time once we've got all the orders in? Would there be great objections to me playing whenever I can after the orders are all finalised? After all, I'm just a tool, so there will be few occasions I would ever need to make a decision not covered in the orders, and if I needed to, I could always stop, post what I had and wait for discussion.....

City of X

X should be working tiles 4, 2, and the Oasis.

After the Settler is should be working the Oasis.
At size 2 we should begin working tile 11 also.
At size 3 we should begin working tile 6 (in addition to 10 and 11).

Here's the tile working plan for the City of X showing which tiles to work when the city hits size 4 and size 5.
When we reach size 6 convert the sixth citizen to a Tax Collector (or Entertainer of the Tax Collector wouldn't keep the city from rioting).

* The turn before X builds the Granary work the unshielded Grassland tile SW of the city instead of the Floodplain East of the city.

Current Build Queue
Settler
Warrior
Settler

Worker:
Road the forest south of the city.
Move NW and road the unshielded Grassland tile SW of the city.
Move NW and road the Forest W of the city.
Move NE and road the Desert NW of the city.
Move W and road the shielded Grassland W/NW of the city.
Move NW and road the shielded Grassland W/NW/NW of the city.
Move SE, then E, then irrigate the Desert NW of the city.

Settler:
Moves W.
Moves W.
Moves W.
Moves N.
Founds new city ("Gates of X"?)
Build Queue:
Warrior
Worker

I recommend a time limit on voting. The first 24 hours of a trade session or 24 hours before a trade session... something like that. If a landholder doesn't make a vote in the time allotted, either just go with those who do, or use their last known vote.

You read my mind, I was thinking the same thing. I was thinking 24 hours to vote on Guild Pricing etc. And I was also thinking of shortening the trade session time to 48 hours.

Its Turnthread 5 (as in the actual playing of the Civ3 game), we played three turnthreads to get to where we could assign land tiles. Then while Trade Session 1 was going on we had Turnthread 4, and now MWIA is wanting orders for Turnthread 5 which will include the production and movement of the 2 Settlers.

We need to have the Settlers auctioned off before the turns are played.

Are we going to auction them off before or after we finish the current trading session (or during) ? If before or during, then I'd guess the funds we'd earn from trading session two would not be available.

Also... I recall that there is at least a 250$ minimum for bidding on a tile... does this apply to only the federal government tile auctions, or does it apply to the city specific auctions as well... ???

Here's most of the info on how the bidding will work:

From the Settler initiative thread:

quote:
Six of the shares are the property of the city that builds the Settler and may be auctioned off or assigned as the city sees fit.

http://apolyton.net/forums/showthread.php?...292#post3152292

quote:
There isn't a minimum bid on shares in a Settler so if you had the highest bid you would win.

quote:
quote:
1. How do we determine which 4 are player owned? Do the players pick them, and then the remaining 4 are state-owned?

Exactly.

So for The Asylum's Settler we determine the location of the new city (done). Then the city of The Asylum can hold auctions or assign off 6 tiles opened up by the building of the city. (done)

Then 2 more spots are reserved for Federal auctions. The highest bidder in those auctions gets to choose a tile from those remaining, and the second highest bidder then chooses their tile after that.

----------------

If this is the way it works The Asylum has finalized where to found the new city and how to allot the 6 tiles it controls. (If this isn't the way it works, then we obviously have nothing finalized)

The new city will be founded 7774 of The Asylum.

Aeson: River BG 99 of city site.
Jonny: River BG 6 of city site.
Makahlua: River Grassland 96 and River Grassland 9 of city site.
TORARADICAL: River Grassland 98 and Grassland 66 of city site.

Aeson, I believe the way it was stated is that the highest bidder gets first choice of tiles, so if a player who is biddng on the 2 federal tiles has bid higher than the city bidders that person would get first pick.

So there's two tiles up for for bid by everyone and if any of those bids are higher than the bids in your city auction they would get prior choice on tiles.

I was under the impression that the auctions were seperate. A City auction and a Federal one taking the tiles that were left. The way you answered Uber's question on that point seemed to support that the city auction came first, then the federal one.

Exactly.

They are seperate, but it was never stated that the city picks came before the federal picks. The city gets a larger number of tiles and the federal ones may not go up for auction and be held in reserve.

The quote you listed was in answer to what happened to LEFTOVER tiles. After all the share owners pick their tiles the remaining tiles go to the Central Government just like all the leftover tiles from our initial choosing went to the Central government.

No, it was in response to how we were going to divide up the city and state tiles.

Now, lets say we were going to colonize somewhere with 8 full tiles.

Enter the AD-FREE zone

I was under the impression that the city auction for settler shares would hold precedence over the federal government auction tiles of the new city, thus giving the advantage to those, within the city, bidding on the settler from which it was built... I never saw ANYWHERE, where it said that if someone bidding in a "federal auction" outbid someone bidding in the "city auction" that the higher bidder, from the federal auction, would have choice of tile first. ... well until I saw it here anyways...

Like I said...I was under the impression that being a citizen of the city in which the settler was built would come with the perks of at least having a snap crack shot over everyone else (from other cities) at getting in on the new city...

I guess I was wrong...

I proposed these orders to Gen Locus, and he did not complain about any of them.

Warrior, head southeast, to scout north of Feudality.
On turn 51, Feudality grows to a size 2. Ensure working 2 floodplains and the mined hill.
Settler finishes on turn 52. Build warrior.
Move settler 3, 6, 2.
Settle New City on turn 53.
New City builds a warrior.
On turn 54, worker finishes mining.
Move worker 9,9, road there.
worker finishes on turn 57. move 2, irrigate.
Warrior in Feudality finishes on turn 58. Build settler.
