An H&K USP .45 compact is a damn good gun. Do I need one? No. The Navy didn't need the ship. They didn't want the ship. Instead, a Senior (civilian!) Republican told the Navy you're going to piss away an amount equal to most countries entire defense budgets on a ship you don't want or need.

2. And Trent Lott DOES NOT EQUAL George Bush. Do not blame one for the expenditures of another.

Your entire thread seems to be laying blame on Democrats. I'm pointing out how at least one Senior Republican (as Bush has already been pointed out to be unfriendly to the military) helped actively created a situation where the military was having funding issues because they were now contract-bound to by crap they didn't want. Expensive crap. If they never had to have do that, We would probably have been able to have the Tax cuts, fight the war, AND give the VA the funding it deserves(amoung other agencies).

3. And $800 million is a small price to pay for a great man, and a great senator like Trent Lott.
|
It was a great, big, blinking price that could have gone to VA, servicemembers benefits, or (for those of us who think technology=good for defence) the chronically underfunded National Lab system. Trent Lott is not greater than any of these. He's just a Jackass hick who doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut at Thurmond's birthday parties.
quote:
See? Three reasons. All of which show you to be wrong. |
First reason doesn't explain WHY the navy should pay for a ship it doesn't want or needs. (same goes for most military pork-barrel projects foisted upon by Congress. All usually have high quality products, most weren't needed in the first place)
Second Reason completely ignores the point I was trying to make. While Dems are no great shakes with porkbarrel projects, Republicans aren't any better. In fact, many are worse. And then they cut VA and Servicemember Bennies and blame it on tight finances.
Third reason: Why in God's name is a senator from Mississippi "great" relative to the rest of the states? How much money does his state contribute in Federal Taxes? Less than California, Texas, Florida, NY, Washington, Virginia, etc. I'm sure. Why should this great man Who chose not to serve in the military during the vietnam war be able to tell all these Senior military officers with years and years of experience how to run their services? Oversight is one think, actively forcing them to spend money to benefit his craptastic state is another.
(sorry DinoDoc)

A silly example, everyone either owns a gun or should own a gun.

HAHAHAHAHAH This is incorrect. $800 million would not pay for Iraq war or tax breaks. No, it would barely buy a vote in our great senate. You people talk about checking facts, and yet you blame ONE superb and intelligent man, Senator Lott, with creating our (relatively small) national debt. The ship is useful, it will be used, and you seem to think $800 mil is a ton of money, it isn't anymore, this isn't 1920. Need I remind you that John Kerry's wife, Teresa [insert brand name here], is a mega-billionaire who owns a freakin island and is trying to take over the world Nov 2?
So Trent Lott didn't serve in Vietnam. Neither did Bill Clinton or his libido. Enough of your back-peddling waffle-flipping "Would you like syrup with that flip-flop."

You must have been reading a different post. Your busy official duties as Webelo Leader have clearly clouded your ability to understand English.

I have nothing to do with Indians, or young boys, who do I look like over here, Steven Segall? Your allegations are absurd and they keep getting absurder. If you read your original post you said
"If they never had to have do that, We would probably have been able to have the Tax cuts, fight the war, AND give the VA the funding it deserves(amoung other agencies)."
BOOM You're exposed, try again next time.
