i want this to be a good game, but i am not too encouraged by molyneux's hype. i did get burned by b&w so i have a good reason. what is most troubling is i remember reading an article where the developers discussed the game and mentioned how they were limiting certain choices they didn't agree with. typically the were very evil and objectionable things(leave them in for the germans at least!) but it seems counter intuitive to what the hype is trying to make us believe the game is. this sets off alarms bells for me because b&w wasn't really anything like it was supposed to be and the many gimmicks added nothing to the overall core gameplay(which sucked and was broken).

I would also suggest going over to IGN and reading thier latest preview, if you can handle 12 pages (which dwarfs Gamespot and Gamespy's newest 3 page previews)

IGN . Great stuff in their self-professed 'Greatest Preview of All Time'. They also have a 'Crib Sheet' with answers to specific questions.
As for questions about the story:
quote: Is the story any good?
That's really the question of the moment. In truth, we don't really know for sure. The only way to really tell how good the story is is to play the game. There are strong story-telling elements early in the game leading us to believe that the story itself will be quality stuff, but the jury is still out on that one. |
Like I said, no one has really played much of the game yet to know how good the story actually is, but at least early in the game, it's looking good.
And the Greatest Preview of All Time starts out saying:
quote: Bungie, I love you guys, but you may not want to clear a space on your shelf for Game of the Year just yet. Fable, Microsoft's long delayed RPG, is just a few weeks from going gold and it is awesome. Forget about losing multiplayer, forget about any gripes of what "was supposed to be in there," what you will get with Fable will blow your rock off. I say this with confidence, having spent a couple of hours playing through Fable as the most ornery bastard that ever stepped foot in an RPG. It's GTA meets medieval RPG -- it's big, it's free roaming, and it's a riot. While I still have some concerns over certain areas of Fable and I can't say that it will definitely be "the greatest RPG of all time" as Peter Molyneux claims, it could in fact end up as such. Yeah, it's one of those rare long-awaited games that looks like it will live up to the hype. |

Btw, reading the preview makes me *drool*. Passive reactions from NPCs, if you are evil guards saying they have their eye on you, ability to buy and sell property, marriage, divorce, homosexual relationships, sex, etc, etc. WOW!
