quote: The truth my ass. Taking the truth and using it as a spectacle is called incitement. |
I don't care what you call it, but maybe it helps to create public opposition to the terrorists.
quote: Check Oeridin's threads. |
Anything specifically?
quote:
Yellow card for using Hitler references. |
Red card for using the fallacy that bad man doesn't like some guy, so some guy must be good.
quote: Maybe Allawi saw what was going on and disagreed with it? |
Or maybe he's a thug?
"“If you’re asking me if Allawi has blood on his hands from his days in London, the answer is yes, he does,” Vincent Cannistraro, the former C.I.A. officer, said. “He was a paid Mukhabarat agent for the Iraqis, and he was involved in dirty stuff.” A cabinet-level Middle East diplomat, who was rankled by the U.S. indifference to Allawi’s personal history, told me early this month that Allawi was involved with a Mukhabarat “hit team” that sought out and killed Baath Party dissenters throughout Europe. (Allawi’s office did not respond to a request for comment.) At some point, for reasons that are not clear, Allawi fell from favor, and the Baathists organized a series of attempts on his life. The third attempt, by an axe-wielding assassin who broke into his home near London in 1978, resulted in a year-long hospital stay."

quote: The latest rumor regarding Allawi is that he shot dead 6 insurgents. Just recently. |
I'm aware of that. What's your point?
quote: First of all the US Army went in and shut down the paper, a paper with local roots. This time the Iraqis did it, and for a month. They closed the Baghdad office. They still can operate, just that their main office has been closed down. |
Wrong. They closed all the Iraqi offices.
"The Iraqi government closed the Iraqi offices of the Arab television station Al-Jazeera for 30 days, accusing it Saturday of inciting violence"

quote: And finally you are overestimating Al Jazeera. |
It's a helluva lot more important than the Sadrist paper. It's one of the most important news sources in Iraq, certainly the most important Arab Nationalist (an ideology that is prominent among Sunnis) source.

quote: Yeah right! Good one. |
Why's that? US TV news replayed the Twin Towers being crashed into ad nauseum, I guess that means Fox News, CNN, etc. are in bed with al-Qaeda.
quote:
It's there. I'm not going to seach through 1000 pages to find it. I've also seen this on some tv news shows. |
If you're not going to back up what you say, why bother saying it?
quote: At some point, for reasons that are not clear, Allawi fell from favor, and the Baathists organized a series of attempts on his life. |
Stalin doesn't like Hitler, therefore Hitler must be a saint!
Too many violations, you're out of the game.
quote: Even so, they are still going to operate, "unofficially." |
And I'm sure Allawi will do his best to stop them.
quote: Only people that seem to think it's that important are you and foreign Arabs. |
And all of the people who watch al-Jazeera in Iraq.

And they stopped playing it after the first couple of days. And they will only rarely play it now. Because they realized the effects of what was being shown. |
Point is, that's no proof of complicity or any such nonsense.
quote:
Oh it's there, I am sure. I just don't feel like wasting time looking it up. Nice side diversion though. |
Yes, asking for specifics is a "side diversion." The Tedaverse is an interesting place.
quote: What exactly has Allawi done RECENTLY, other than above mentioned rumors ? The Iraqis picked him, in spite of the US and UN's recommendations. They seem to be comfortable with him. |
Abusing prisoners, for instance, as I mentioned earlier. Less recently (a decade or so ago), there's the murdering of school children in Baghdad.

1. The IGC picked him.
2. We wanted Allawi. And we pressured Brahimi into going along with it.
3. He was one of the least popular members of the IGC.
quote:
Sure. I'm sure they are already marching in the streets and firing RPG's demanding the return of the Qatar based tv station!!! |
Well, we'll see what happens.
