I spent a lot of time trying to put it into words, partially failing, but at the last explanation I think I came pretty good with what I was trying to say. English is my second language so it's not always easy to put things on writing, when you have to explain something and have difficult things like definitions, facts, complexity by two different definitons, facts, non-facts etc. You have to come through! Either accept my theory, or kill it with facts. Surrender or keep on fighting. |
Alright alright, poor pekka. I'll keep on the fight for you, since you really can't live with me saying "I don't want to fight with you" like what you said to that girl. See how tolerate women can be, compared to men sometimes?
Ok let's look at your last argument.
quote:
When we talk about women being complex, it doesn't necessarily equal the word complex. Complex is still based on facts, while we talk about women being complex, it doesn't necessarly mean they have issues that are based on facts, and they're just complex. That's the emotional thing. Women are more emotional. Complex. So far so good? You've tried to refute this argument, and you really have to come up with huge assasination argument to kill this.
|
I agree with you. Women do not have issues that are based on facts. They are just more emotional. Or in your word, more complex.
quote:
There are two different complexes. The factual complex, and the woman complexity.
Now, a woman that is in touch with her emotions as people claim, if she is, then it shows in her action. It manifests in her actions, because she is touch with her emoitons and feelings. Now, if a woman acts irrationally, we say it's the emotions. But since it's woman complex, and not factual complex, there is no excuse for the behaviour.
|
Here's where you make your jump. You say that when women act "irrationally", because she has emotions. And then you say since it is "emotional complex", instead of "factual complex", there is no excuse for it.
Who said only "factual complex" are allowed and "emotional complex" are not allowed? You have not proved it. You only restated "men's belief" about facts and the fact that women are emotional and sometimes behaves emotionally. It has long been well established, and you have not proved anything further than that.
quote:
If you disagree and say, well it's not the same thing, the mental complexity and actions, then well how do you explain the actions then? Even less excuses, plus then you are saying women are not so in touch with their emotions. Either way, this is why I say it's BS on action.
|
No I do not disagree that women's behavior is affacted by their emotions. And yes you are right to look for answers to their actions from their mental state. And by this you have so far not proved a bit why it is "BS on action".
I hope this last bit is much more clearer for you. English is also my second language. And I agree that communication is very hard when one can not use his/her first language. However, I think the misunderstanding in this thread largely arise from something else, not the language itself. The real issue at hand, after we peel off all the complexity , is that men (or pekka) believe in facts, and they (or you) do not believe that emotion deserves its place, and essentially they (or you) believe that emotion is BS, so any action that is influenced by it is "BS in action".
Well what I would like to say to you, is that this is wrong. Emotion is an important part of human being. Men are raised and trained to conceal their emotions, and try to be as unemotional and logical as he can be. While women have not received that restriction and are freer to express it. However different social environments that men and women face decide they have different attitude toward life and matters, and to the extent that they cannot understand each other. This is a fact. And this is not anybody's fault. It is not because either side have "BS in action". Begin without understanding is a fact. To understand each other is the desired goal. And what we do, how we treat this issue, is in the middle. If we learn to read each other, we can make this process more smoothly. If we simply announce the other is BS and denounce them, then we will never reach the desired end.

I hadn't thought of that. But it is very possible that it sinks to the bottom of the daily life and cannot be seen again. Yes, very true that.

Not necessarily fake. A crush is biologically a hormonal imbalance that will, (un)fortunately, corrects itself in a few weeks or a few months. If no other emtions, such as attachment, friendship, and commitment, have developed during that time, that would be the end of it. |
I agree. I didn't say that the biological hormonal imbalance is fake. But your definition seems to be more accurate than mine.

I agree. There's always room for improvement for lots of things. The point is, improvement is only possible when the person who is doing it wants to improve, not the one who is receiving it. If she doesn't want to change, or if it is a so old habit of hers that it is hard for her to change, then it is no use for you to hope that she changes, because she is not going to change no matter if you talk about it everyday. Better find another approach to the matter. |
Here is a story to illustrate.
I was with this girl a few years ago.
She wanted to change everything about me. Constantly trying to influence" me, both subtly and also just directly. (In a way that made me feel bad about myself). She wanted to change the way I looked, the way I spoke, the way I acted, my beliefs, my leisure activities, I mean EVERYTHING.
I mean I totally dig it when a girl makes subtle suggestions about SOME things. Having a girlfriend is FANTASTIC when you are shopping for clothes because not only are they 10 times better at it, she'll pick out stuff she digs you in. WIN-WIN situation, FO SHIZZLE.
But anyway with this chick it was to the extreme. She was doing it so much it was pushing me away, putting me into a corner, smothering me. I asked her to quit it. We had a few breakups going back and forth because there was no me in the relationship.
Finally, I just said, "if you are trying to change me into a completley different person, why are you with ME in the first place?"
Well that didn't seem to sink through. Breaking up didn't either.
Finally I just had to stop answering the phone, put emails in the trash bin, make myself invisible.
Well what can I say. Sh1t happens.
By the way I liked your stone/tree thing. Good analogy.
