Russia's Alexei Nemov just got ROBBED on the high bar! How could he possibly have gotten such a low score? And Paul Hamm gets the same score as the Italian who won gold (the Italian won on tiebreakers)... what?! Does Hamm have something damaging on the judges?

The gymnastic judging has been horrid in Athens.

Horrible judging

But I don't like the vast majority of them.

BTW, is it considered "gay" to sometimes enjoy women's figure skating?

Then don't watch them .

The Olympics are the home of the 'judged' sports. It's where they have a huge stage.

Hmm. I don't feel like coming up with a good response, because I'm kind of trolling here.

I think synchronized swimming and ice dancing and stuff need to go.

It is a travesty that two ice dancers, with a 5 minute routine that beats out only a few other pairs from the few countries that do the sport, can win a Gold and up their country's medal count, while a large team of soccer players has to play a dozen games, and compete with almost every country in the games just to get the same reward.

Why? Can the soccer players do the same ice dancing routine? Different requirements for different medals. And what does medal count matter anyway? Me thinks you don't get the goal of the Olympics .

Yes, it seems by that standard one could only really approve of one sport, the Global Hide-and-Seek with a time limit of 30 years.

Or win by default in case of the death of your opponent.

Not many would reach the 2nd or 3rd stages though, and you'd never really have an undisputed champion.

gymnastics is basically ruined in this olympics imo. the judging is so erratic and it's apparent the judges don't even know what the **** they are doing. how can you break ties after both matches have already been judged? it's like admiting you were wrong the first time you score one of them. how can you change scores higher just because the crowd booed(saw this tonight)? also the thing about the korean where the judges started with the wrong difficulty value is another shock. how can they even get such basics wrong? i know they made lots of changes to the judging lately but something seems very wrong(it's impossible to get a 10 now and i don't think one person male or female in any event has gotten above 9.8x). it also seemed weird when 9.4s were good enough for medals in womans events.

i also love how the first sprinter with a false start makes all sprinters in that race have a false start so that the next sprinter to false start is disqualified. wtf is that? it's basically encouraging you to make false starts at the beginning as if you don't get caught you get an advantage and even if you do it's more likely one of you opponents will get disqualified than you(just based on the odds).

sorry, just had to vent that stuff pisses me off because it's so stupid.

Yes, the new disqualification rules for running events seems a bit off. I can see the positive side as they can actually keep a scedule as opposed to earlier when several false starts could really distort everything. I guess they've taken that from swimming where there's no longer any pardon for people that try to cheat. But it's a significant difference between swimming and running, it's a lot easier to make an unintentional false start in running. So now you can get disqualified because someone else tried to cheat earlier.

It is incredibly stupid. It also encourages the slow starters to cheat since the fast starters will have to 'sit back' a bit after someone elses false start.

Yes, it has. That crowd reaction was incredable. A little overdone, but incredible.

I think they judge Hamm relatively fairly. Its other people they don't, like Nemov-that score was a travesty-no way he deserved less than the guy who on bronze or Morgan Hamm.

ATHENS, Aug 24 (Reuters) - Hungary's Robert Fazekas will be stripped of his discus gold medal and thrown out of the Olympic Games after being caught trying to tamper with a urine sample, an International Olympic Committee source said on Tuesday.

The source said Fazekas had not wanted to give a doping test after Monday's final and when he did, he tried to tamper with the process but was spotted by officials.

Hungarian Olympic Committee spokesman Dezso Vad said he was unaware of the IOC decision.

"We have heard that he could not give enough urine and he was there (at the doping control) until 0300 in the morning and he just could not give enough. That's the only thing we know and that the IOC was meeting to discuss this.

"We have not received any official notification."

I have to say the rendition of the Star Spangled banner is one of the best I have ever heard. Very dynamic and has many layers of mood, none of that bombastic drinking style music.

In other news, Kerri Walsh just slapped Misty May in the azz!!!

Aussie robbed in boxing!!! Support Apolyton, buy GURPS/ Alpha Centauri

Australia's Adam Forsyth was defeated by an Egyptian boxer who barely laid a punch

The Egyptian was apparently so gifted, he could score points for being hit! Without barely laying a punch, he emerged victorious 27-12, even though the Aussie battered him to a pulp for the entire fight

Who the hell are the judges? IOC officials?

He hardly touched me, says Forsyth the fallen
