Yeah, you're right. It's even worse than that, he abused his family's influence to get into a National Guard unit so he didn't have to go. And then didn't even turn up to his guard unit because he was off drinking all the time.

I don't really see how Republicans can get any mileage on the war thing bearing in mind how bad Bush's appears. At least Kerry was there, no matter how well or badly he performed.

the bush admin has made several big mistakes. and it has caused an economic crisis and much human pain. and now they are trying to cover up using something that happened 30 years ago.

The only problem with your thesis is that Bush became a fighter pilot and fighter pilots Guard units were very likely to be deployed to Vietnam.

As to drinking? This is complete bull given that his Alabama boss vouches for him. He showed up. The records prove it as well. It is a wonder how this misinformation continues even after Bush's record was vetted and found to be consistent with regulations and other requirements.

Big Mistakes? Liberation of 45 Million people?

Economic crisis? The recession started during Clinton's last year. We didn't turn the corner until Congress passed Bush's tax cuts and they went into effect last summer. Since that time, we have had the greatest economic expansion since Reagan in 1984.

BTW, in WWII, my Dad was an officer in the infrantry and my Uncle was a bomber pilot.

During Vietnam, I was drafted, but was dismissed due to my poor eyesight.

Proof? I very much doubt that the press criticized Dole's combat record anywhere close to as much as the press is criticizing Kerry's combat record. And I'm absolutely certain that the Clinton campaign didn't try to smear Dole's war record.

I'll get a link later. But you are probably right about Clinton. But, this implies that Bush is doing this to Kerry. Bush has nothing to do with this. The veterans he betrayed and his fellows in Vietnam he smeared in his reports and books are doing this to him.
