Unit Graphics Needed Full PM-box? Change here!

A few months ago, I released a Vietnam War scenario on this forum and received no feedback or comments. I think I do know why, however. It was quite amateurish as scenarios go, utilizing most of the tech tree and most terrain and city graphics, as well as many unit graphics, unaltered from core Civ2, and many other unit graphics were just plain inappropriate to the look of the era. I plan a complete remake with a total overhaul to be more appropriate to the actual conflict. What I need at this point is a few good unit graphics, if anyone has them or can make them. Needed graphics include:
*NVA Militia
*VC Guerillas
*ARVN Infantry
*ARVN Armor (as it was)
*Cambodian and Laotian Militia
*Thai Infantry
*Green Berets
*US Swift Boats
*Apache Helicopters
*FWA Volunteers
*NV MiG-21's
Any of these would be helpful, preferably with attached nationality shields. Great thanks to anyone who can help me.

Look in the latest page of the WW2-1979 Units thread, some chap named vodkakov made quite a comprehensive Vietnam units collection, and I'm sure you'll find most of what you're looking for in there.

Here are some Vietnam units collected by Kashanka.

And BTW, could you in future please put your graphic requests in the relevant threads (non-unit, modern, etc) instead of here? There's a purpose for them you know

Thanks a lot for all this help. I'll check out the modern units thread right away. I am looking forward to seeing that Huey (though I did think they had Apaches. My mistake). Just one more thing; does anyone have, or can make, convincing Mekong Delta terrain (you know, brownish water with rice stalks sticking up)? Thanks!

Thanks a lot for the Huey and others. Could anyone make a good river gunboat .WAV file (with something like speedboat engine and machine gun noises mixed together)? And, if anyone could cook up my above mentioned Mekong Delta terrain graphics, I'd be greatly obliged. Thanks!

Suffering from ads?

Sorry I took so long to respond, but my computer's on the fritz (I had to actually format and restore it). I'll have to start on my scenario again from scratch, as well as collect the graphics library I had. If anyone has copies of old Patine scenarios whose threads have dropped of (notably my Mexican Revolution and Contemporary Middle East ones), please let me know, as I'd like copies of those. Thanks, and I appreciate everyone on this thread's support, though the scenario will be delayed.

Hey, while you're working on that terrain graphic and .WAV file, curt (at least I hope you are), could you (or anyone else who knows for that matter) what the names of the three major US Bases in South Vietnam as of '66 were. I've got most of my progress back quite quickly, so if you delayed the graphic and .WAV files on account of my bad news, please feel free to post them (if they just aren't done yet, that's fine). Thanks a lot!

I think the best ones to include would be Danang/Da Nang (I Corps.), Cam Ranh Bay (II Corps.), Long Binh or Bien Hoa (III Corps.). This should give a fairly well distributed number of bases throughout South Vietnam for the US forces. Danang airbase was where the first conventional US troops landed in 1965. Cam Ranh Bay contained deep water berths for US supply ships. I think Bien Hoa was an airbase and Long Binh was more of a logistics centre. It depends what you want to represent. Pleiku was also pretty important as a Special Forces base. However, I think that Danang and Cam Ranh Bay should definitely be included.

A map of South Vietnam (as well as loads of very detailed information about US bases) can be found here:
http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/books/Vi...hapter10.htm#m1

I hope I was of help.

Full PM-box? Change here!

I think you should use a low level of riot factor in the cosmic
section of rules.txt, and maybe also use temples as US army garrisons.

Also events that remind the player of problems back home with civil unrest, etc.

This could represent 1960's culture and fluctuating support for the war?

I do need one suggestion, actually. How should I penalize the US player for events-wise for capturing a North Vietnamese city in North Vietnam, given the no-fire, no-flight rule? Any suggestions?

I like that idea. All the Vietnam scenarios that I've played never take into account that the US forces were very restricted in what they could do, like not being able to pursue VC/NVA into Cambodia and so on (well, at least for the early stages of the war, I think they later let them bomb within a few miles of the border, but the VC/NVA just moved their supply bases a little bit further into Cambodia).

Thanks for the idea. I'll make sure it, or something like it, is brought into the scen (especially good since I'm running the US and South Vietnam as separate players, but with an unbreakable alliance).
