Anytime baby. |
Jobs Issue-Lost 2million plus jobs due to Clinton recession and attack of 9/11 due to 8 years of letting terrorist solidify their position. Since Bush economic policies have actually come into play the economy has added over 1.5 million jobs and shown the highest growth rate quarter since Reagan. Unemployment is actually slightly lower than when Clinton ran for re-election. This one goes to Bush.
Balanced Budget issue- Usually a republican stronghold, Bush has dropped the ball here. However, budget deficits are typical in times of war...look what FDR spent. Democratic history gives them no leg to stand on here. The truth is that only the Congress can tax and spend. Budget surpluses and budget deficits both occured under Republican Congresses. Neithier candidate can claim superiority here.
Environmental Issue- Both candidates have spoken on pollution. GWB has focused more on wetlands while JFK has focused on coastal waters. JFK keeps promoting the 1070's era EPA Superfund idea which is tired and old. GWB wants to reform regulations. This is not a strong suit for eithier candidate and what they do say is fairly similar. Neithier can claim superiority.
The Social Security issue-Bush has a plann that will allow the system to survive the babyboomers. His plan is endorsed by Greenspan. Kerry has no plan, or rather plans to continue the same system, which nearly every expert expects to fail or raise taxes to unbearable levels. Bush has the clear nod here.
Healthcare issue- Bush's platform calls for medicare reform, health savings accounts, help for the poor, community health centers, and reform of medical liability. Kerry's platform consist of cutting waste in the system, using technology to cut costs, and preventative healthcare. While both candidates propose solid ideas, Bush's clearly will have a more positive impact. Bush gets the nod again.
The abortion issue- The candidates are split as the country is split. Depends on your personal beliefs on who gets the nod. Mine goes to Bush.
The foriegn relations issue- Bush has rallied the world to fight the cause of terrorism. France, Germany, Russia, and nearly all the rest of the world have rallied around his leadership on this issue. Iraq was devisive, but it would be hard to say that Sadaam out of power is a bad thing. Bush has a larger vision of bringing freedom to a part of the world that has only known tyranny. Changing an entire region of the world is bound to cause problems as power and economic arrangements are forced to be reformed. You would expect this from some of the major powers in the world...and we got it. Bush has brokered peace from the brink of war between Pakistan and India, disarmed Iraq, unseated the Taliban, disarmed Libya, and has Iran leaning toward nuclear inspections. Kerry's only solid position is that he would like to get a consensus before we use troops anywhere in an offensive role. I want a President that will act unilaterally if needed. Bush very clearly has the superior position and plan here.
Kerry and Bush both (according to record) served their country honorably in the United States military. Kerry was decorated a hero. He gets the nod on service. But let's be clear...whatever happened on that swiftboat has no bearing on whether or not he will make a good leader...regardless of whose story is true.
So, Zkribbler, let's try really looking at the issues before we start
, because the last will be on Kerry.

No they don't.
And yes, I did read Z's post. Bush has presided over a net job loss, which didn't even happen to Hoover, advantage Kerry. Bush's deficit spending is a disgrace and he shows nothing to balance the budget, after some exercises in fiscal discipline in the Clinton years, advantage Kerry. Environment issue, come on Bush believes in the environment as far as he can ignore all environmental issues, advantage Kerry. Bush has no real plans for Social Security, which by the way ISN'T bankrupt (do you check any of your claims?), but Kerry is making some noises to keep the SS surpluses self contained to deal with the baby boomers, advantage Kerry. Bush's healthcare plan is a joke of a worst kind with no provisions to extend protection to the 44 million uninsured, Kerry wants to at least use the government to try to get the uninsured some medical insurance, advantage Kerry. Kerry is pro-choice, advantage Kerry. Bush has alienated every single ally we have to some degree or another, advantage Kerry.
It isn't even close, Bush loses on every issue.
