From a diplomatic viewpoint, the Vikings request the Dutch and Byzantines not to take sides in this little philosophical disagreement we are having with the English. Amphibious Berserks can give some pretty sore heads

the byzantines are not happy about the feeble scandinavians picking on the weakest civ, which is still without iron. we believe that the berserkers have already started a golden age in the united nations of sweden, norway, denmark, iceland and greenland and kindly ask them to back off and return to their island

to motivate this move, we wish to remind the vikings that many of their cities are either undefended or only weakly covered and should be no trouble for our ancient cavalry, musketmen and trebuchets.

we also call upon the dutch to ask the vikings for peace!

Not to put it too bluntly......but who the hell are you to tell the Vikings what to do? You think that because you are the most powerful civ on earth, you can order the rest of the world around at your whim? Well think again, sunshine.

The military action currently being undertaken is half a world away from your glittering shores Sabre, and is therefore no concern of yours. The Vikings will not tolerate you playing the peacekeeper (yet again!) just so you can continue to increase your already powerful position in this world.

the byzantine people do not consider themselves the world police! for that title they lack the necessary lead over the other nations of the world.

the byzantines however see themselves as a peaceloving civilization that dispise the slaughter, rape, pillaging and battling that is going on on the english continent. we are worried that should such a brutal a desolate stance continue, the world will be infected with the nastiest desease, called war.

it is true that the byzantines do not no much about land war and it is true that the english continent is far away. but the vikings are nonetheless direct neighbors of byzance and battling neighbors are not nice neighbors.
