Damn, 80 hours! It took me about 25-30 probably the first time through. Of course, the third or fourth time through my friend and I managed to knock the whole game out in 6 hours (rushing through everything just to see how fast you could go) .

80 hrs on Kotor I would have never finished it if it had taken that long. I finished in about 30hrs, not the time they record but actual time. In truth I was sick of it after 25 hrs, so I forced the last 5 hrs. Very unsatisfying ending, both Dark and Light.

About Power gaming. I do it but Im also lazy. If power gaming requires extra effort, micromanagement Then I don't do it. But if no extra effort is required like say the party members you select in Baldurs Gate, then I try to figure out then I try to figure out the optimal configuration. I don't usually set up my character at the begining of an RPG tho thinking what is the most powerful character. I do worry about making sure he won't be useless though. So like most people, I think. I power game to a point.

I'd probably use the Bow in Fable.

Indeed. All this, 'I beat the game in 5 hours' BS doesn't appeal to me, because all I can think of is that the person didn't take time to enjoy the ride. You can go ahead and beat a game in 5 hours, I'll spend the 50 or so to go around and smell the roses and just have fun in the gameworld .

Something weird happened last night. I married a girl in Oakvale. I even got 2000 gold in dowry. But she disappeared after the first day. Never heard from the skank again. After a while, I even rented my marital home. Maybe its unsuitable as a marital home, since it only has one bed.

how much work does it take to marry a chica? I've been hitting like mad wherever I go, and been keeping a "queer eye" level of attention to my appearance, but noone, not even the guys are bititng. I guess I need more renown, so I can to more than give gifts, and flirt, and pose.

btw kids, bipolar review part two still in the works, might actually be devoid of typos this time!!!!!

Oh nos, aren't you just the sweetest little thing?! I accept your compliment!

I want to try doing it as a pure wizard too.

Is guile really a worthwhile investment at all? SO far, all I can do is steal, and pick locks, and Its not like I can't laready steal, and break down doors.

I like being an eviol character, except that the horns I grew, and the resulting dry scalp, made me unable to grow an awesome and fear invoking moawk!

A quick question: if you marry a woman from the higher classes, one from Bowerstone North for instance, do you get a better dowry, or better gifts?

Yeah, it's not like they have to translate it or anything. Here, they didn't even bother to translate the game for the francophones in Canada. They translated the manual and that's it. I'm sure Fable will be fully translated for the french market.

no worries bipolar - i might be the worlds most jaded gamer these days(who else can prefer most games that run on his P166 to all this 'modern rubbish'! ).

I'm interested in Fable more out of a kind of academic interest rather than a gaming one, so my expectations wont be damaged.
I'm still looking forward to this month when it comes out here though.

Are people still playing it? Is it still a fun game or does it tire quickly? does the shortness of it ruin the experience?

It's a fun game. I'm of the school of thought where if my main complaint is that it's too short, then the game is good. And for Fable, that's definitely the case.

Although I'd rather if the game were longer, I like the fact that I can run through it all and play as different characters and still have a social life.

Aside from the shortness problems, I think the only other problem I've spotted has been the poor balance in certain spells. There's no rock, paper, scissors to some of the magic - for example the slow time spell is advantageous in every fight, can make escort missions way too easy, and can even be used to cheat in some minigames. No meaningful counter exists in the game to it.

That's not such a big deal though, if you avoid those skills. This is just a game that needs a little more in the way of challenges. The boasts are a good step, but more balancing should have been done.

and an interesting post on the lionhead forums from the man himself here .

I think this is a positive thing to have done. Just to set the record straight for those that might have felt disapointed after following the games development from the begining.
Hopefuly any Fable2 game will be the better for this openess.

role on a week from now - i want to have a look into this game

I haven't finished yet, but it's still a lot of fun. Fable is good to the last drop!
