Round 1 Final Results

Battle 7: Trident Guy vs. Jack the Knife

1.-2. Both gladiators attempt to score blows but to no end result.
3. While dodging a strike Trident Guy is hit to the head with an empty wine bottle thrown by a member of the audience, for 2 points of damage.

In an incredibly close fight, Jack is the victor at a margin of one single HP (61 vs. 60).

Battle 8: Jamski-San vs. Trident Guy

1. Jamski-san and Trident Person exchange blows - but Jamski's is quite a bit stronger, for 37 HP, while Trident Guy scores only 11.
2. The second tussle is identical to the one before, except that Jamski now takes 15 points of damage. At this rate, Trident Guy is going to be looking at the ceiling of the infirmary for quite a time.
3. In a final charge, as if possessed, Trident Man avoids all of Jamski-sans blows to the applause of the audience - and as a final strike, he deals another 15 points of damage.

Bob mucks about with the abbacus for a moment, and then declares Jamski-san, with 63 HP, victor over Trident Guy, who has only 20 HP. Trident Fellow is taken to the ICU, where Drogue is already recovering for the next encounter.

Standings after Round 1:

Emperor Commodus 6 points 2 wins 0 ties 0 losses
Spacius Maximus 4 points 1 win 1 tie 0 losses
Jamski-San 3 points 1 win 0 ties 1 loss
Lord Drogue 3 points 1 win 0 ties 1 loss
Jack the Knife 3 points 1 win 0 ties 1 loss
The Doctor 3 points 1 win 0 ties 1 loss
Captain Flint 1 point 0 wins 1 tie 1 losses
Trident Guy 0 points 0 wins 0 ties 2 losses

Round 2 Leg 1

Battle 1: Jamski-San vs. Lord Drogue

1.3. This round it's time for Jamski-san and Lord Drogue to eye each other menacingly. If looks could kill... Both at full health.

Battle 2: Jack the Knife vs. Jamski-San

1.-2. Jack deflects Jamski's strikes madly, barely getting a chance for a few prods here and there.
3. Jamski has to gasp after such an exercise in raving attacking. Jack takes a good swing and stabs Jamski in the back of all places for 23 points of damage.

Jamski at 77 HP, Jack the Knife at 100.

Battle 3: Emperor Commodus vs. Captain Flint

1. Captain Flint, not shaken in the least by the massive sword Commodus is wielding, charges head on tries to poke Commodus in the eye. Commodus dodges the attack like any self-respecting veteran gladiator should, and in turn pokes Flint in the eye with his pinky for 8 points of damage.
2.-3. Although dazed by the attack gone awry, the Captain shouts "Avast!" and goes to a defensive posture. No more damage is dealt; Flint at 92 HP, Commodus at 100HP.

Battle 4: Trident Guy vs. Emperor Commodus

1.-2. As the weapons clang, Trident Guy loses grip of his prized Trident and scampers after it to the other side of the arena. The Emperor is too amused to pursue.
3. Exhausted by the running back and forth, Trident Guy is helpless agianst a hit for 10 points of damage. Trident Dude at 90 HP, Commodus unscatched.

Battle 5: Lord Drogue vs. Spacius Maximus

1.-3. BOOORIIIING! Both at 100 HP.

Battle 6: Spacius Maximus vs. Jack the Knife

1.-3. The spectators are grumbling. Some are already wanting their denarii back. This isn't good! Bob fidgets in his seat and gazes at the big key with the text "LION CAGE" on it. Both at 100 HP... but for how long?

Battle 7: Captain Flint vs. The Doctor

1. The Doctor has not apparently watched any replays of the earlier battles. Captain Flint entirely mimicks his maneuvre from his battle against 'The Emperor', and lo and behold, it works! The Doctor is poked in the eye for 32 HP. "I have a spare patch if ye need one, arrr", the Captain quips. The disgruntled reigning champion throws his shield at the Captain for 18 points of damage. Bob sighs out of sheer relief and keeps the lions in the cage.
2. Both stop to take a breathe, the spectators take the chance to pester the popcorn and soda vendors.
3. Flint's break lasts a bit too long, however - The Doctor sneaks behind his back, the lowly bugger, and kicks the Captain in the side for another 18 points of damage.

Captain Flint has 64 HP, The Doctor has 68.

Battle 8: The Doctor vs. Trident Guy

1. The Doctor manages to stab Trident Lad in the arm for 24 points of damage. The Doctor also tries to kick him in the nuts, but not wanting to become a Trident Gal, his opponent covers his precious with his shield. The Doc stubs his toe on it for 11 points of damage.
2. "OW OW OW OW", goes The Doctor, and fails to notice Mister Trident going for a hit. The Doctor suffers 13 points of damage, balancing out the score.
3. The Doctor takes his shield and throws it like a boomerang at L'Homme du Trident, and it hits him for 24 points of damage. However, it keeps on going until it does turn around, and flies Doc in the face for 14 points of damage.

The Doctor has 62 HP left, Trident Guy has 52.

It's le weekend, so I'll give you a whopping four days to send in your orders. But of course nothing is stopping you from sending them earlier. Oh, and if you want to use the orders for this leg for the second one as well, TELL ME ABOUT IT. To clarify:

1 Round = 2 Legs
1 Leg = 3 small rounds
6 small rounds = 1 Round = 1 Battle

Also remember that you can send as many separate sets of orders as there are battles you're in that Round, you need not fight two people with identical orders.

I think "segment" (shamelessly stolen from AD&D) is a good name for the "small rounds" (It's what I used in the rules which you posted at the start of this thread...).

From the earlier page:

quote:
Note: the descriptions are to liven things up and have no relation to the actual point values I was given - so if I write "stood in the corners of the arena not attacking each other", it does NOT mean both had A00, to take an example. The only real information is the amount of damage.
(Emphasis added)

I could have had your opponent deal the damage, but I thought it'd be slightly amusing for it to happen that way. It was, in fact, what I like to call "humour".

Put an end to popups!

Orders sent.

My n00b strat worked well against Doc, because he was expecting something intelligent.
Mind you, he still shaded that round though. That'll be why he's the current champ then.
