Put an end to popups!

I think one idea for an event may involve an assassination attempt on McCain by an unknown assailant that leads to a surge of activity in the CIA (possibly by creating a number of free spies in Washington), hoping to find the source behind the attack. Perhaps also, if Vancouver is captured by the Western Separatists, a few figates are generated off-shore, to represent 'dislodged' naval units that were hastily brought into service from the maintainance bays (hence, why they weren't originally in the city). Have you thought of any ideas, yet?

Yes, that could work. I hope Fairline gets back to us about the F-117 and the shirtless rioter, they will be big additions to the units.gif. As for events like the ones you described, I think in such a war there would be assination attempts by all sides.

Could you please explain the role and capabilities of an M6 Linebacker (if we're including it). I kind of need to know for my rules.txt (and are they an American or Canadian vehicle, or both?).

Here's a very quick-and-dirty rehash of the ToT F117A. It needs more work so feel free to mess with it. When did you ask me for a 'shirtless rioter' BTW Chris? Can you describe him a bit more?

No I think you got them all. I'm going to use this moment to send out an official Fairline request. Fairline, I was wondering if you could maybe provide us with some models for bare chested warriors to represent Florida Militia (The Brando type) and Los Angelas gang units.

That was his formal request back earlier on this thread. BTW, thank's for the F-117.

WOW!! Fairline that looks just great, the F-117 I mean. As for the shirtless rioter, I imagine him being fairly muscular, blue jeans, black belt and either aiming an AK-47 at a target or holding the AK-47 up in the air in a celebretory fashion. Don't worry about his race, we can manipulate that in Photoshop ourselves to suit white, black or hispanic rioters.

Say Patine, would it be possible to change the name of this thread eventually? I think it should bare the name of our title, even though we are yet to agree on a final title.

Wait a minute, Fairline did you say that was a rehash of a ToT F117? Well, as of now Patine and I are hoping this one will in fact be a ToT scenario. Where can we find the unhashed ToT F-117, though I do appreciate the fact you've made it available for MGE scenario makers.

I think we could change the name of the thread, certainly, though I hadn't begun thinking of a name to suggest for this scen yet either.

BTW, it's been slow going on the rules.txt, as I've been somewhat busy lately, but I hope to pick up the pace soon.

Say, Sarsstock, I've made some progress on the rough draftof the rules.txt, notably the units part, but I need the model name of Canadian APC's. Also, if we're going to include them, please fill me in on M6 Linebackers, or they likely won't make the final cut. Thanks!

You know, I've just finished doing a rough draft of the unit stats, even leaving space for the M6 and Canadian APC, and I now think these units will indeed fit onto a MGE roster. If you have no objections, I think we should convert back to the more user-friendly edition and just use a batch file to fit in all of our events.

Here, in fact, is the ToT rules.txt file I was working on. Only the units are actually done, (with the Knights holding the Canadian APC slot and the Catapult holding the M6 slot) but it should give some idea as to how I envision things. Let me know what you think

With your permission I'm giong to try to recruit either Catfish or Fairline to apply that incredible ToT graphical shading to our tanks and or airplanes.

Just looking at those incredible WW2 units recently posted really stops me dead in my tracks. I haven't taken a look at the rules.txt yet but will do so shortly. I'm affraid the graphic side of this game may be a little longer than the rules and events, though possibly not by much.

Graphics shapings are fine with me. I just recalled I've forgotten the C-130 and Boeing 747 in the rules.txt, and now I must ask, on that topic, how do you do transport planes? Do you assign a number to the 'holds on ship' slot and an air domain? Does that work? Or this there another way to do it?

Suffering from ads?

By the way Sarsstock, you were wondering about my scenarios. Here's a scen I made a little while ago just as an example of my handiwork. Though this one doesn't use your flags, if you could make me up a flagset for the ones used here, I would greatly like that (all graphics credits are in the Readme.txt). It covers my take on the Vietnam War (you mentioned some interest in a Vietnam scen a while ago, or that you were working on one). It's mainly to illustrate my scenario-design style (and, admittedly, some advertising and show-and-tell as well). Please have a look.

BTW, if you have any completed scens of your own, however old, please post one; I'd like to see it.

Well its a shame we can't discuss this online, I doubt we'll ever get much done without having a realtime conversation. Otherwise we'll just be trading idea's here and there and the scenario will likely bog down in early development.

In any case, I'm still having doubts about Florida's involvment in this scenario. I think there will be enough breakaway nations in this scenario as it is for now, and I'm not sure that Cuba in any future timeline would be able to mount an occupation of South Florida.

I think I see you're point in regards to Florida, at least in that Cuba financial and military woes are very significant and aren't likely to improve while they remain under their current regime. It was an idea, but maybe not the best one.

As for MSN, I'll give it another try, maybe with some tech support. If it doesn't work, please at least consider Yahoo! Messenger (I'm told both messengers can run simultaneously) as an alternative.

Well I won't say it was a bad idea, Civilization II is home to some of the most insane but creative scenario idea's out there. Now, in the last 24 hours I've gotten quite a bit of information from local and national news about the melting of Canada's north and the possible ramifications world wide.

Basically, I think when our scenario takes place in a decade water will have become so scarce that the vast deserts of the American south west may actually exband, swollowing up vast tracks of land.

We are a spoiled people we North Americans, we have never had to worry about mass starvation or mass droubt that effects not just towns but cities, states and provinces. This is afterall what triggers the upheaval that ignites this scenario.

I also caught a documentary on CBC last night about a Canadian military exercise in the Canadian artic, if you can call it the artic still. Basically, the exercise didn't go as well as the army had planned, though many of the problems were due to bad weather. I doubt the Americans could have fared much better in such conditions. Not that this matters much since little if no fighting will take place in the Canadian Artic in our scenario.

Here's an interesting side note.... in 1945, Canadian General Andrew McNaughton made a prediction that if Canada and the United States ever went to war, it would be over water and water rights.

Ultimately, water should be a predominant theme, but politics should, as always, overcomplicate that simplicity. I, too, have heard about arctic troubles and recently read a global environmental report of the top ten 'hotspots' of ecological trouble (two or three were in or near North America). The Florida idea probably shouldn't be nixed entirely in consideration, just relegated to a low priority.

BTW, I've got MSN Messenger working and put your e-mail address as a contact, but you've been offline everytime I've checked since then. I hope I catch you online soon, though. I used the following e-mail address as my .NET passgate, as I used it for Microsoft tech support.

No need to worry friend, I just got back on with Poly here. Anyways, the tasks at hand include getting Fairline to help us with those full colour pallet versions of the units we require, finding an apropriate city style, terrain graphics, icons, sounds, and finding a way to write the events you proposed.

All and all nothing a couple of Canadians like us can't handle.

Sorry for the delay, guys.

@Sarsstock: good to see you on Apolyton again. I am sure we can handle these trials, especially events, but it may take some creative use of the Civ engine. I do hope Fairline responds, too.

@jim panse: well, I'm no good at maps, but I'm certain (or at least hopeful) that someone whose downloaded it is.
