quote: The Cheneys = Hypocrisy personified
Pat Robertson: Blames Mary Cheney, by extension, of responsibility for 9/11 terrorist attacks. "I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America--I point the finger in their face and say, 'You helped this happen."(September 2001)
Lynn and Dick Cheney's response: Silence
Rick Santorum: Accuses Mary Cheney, by definition, of immorality comparable to polygamy, adultery and incest. "If the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual (gay) sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything." (April 2003)
Lynn and Dick Cheney's response: Silence
Alan Keyes: Specifically accuses Mary Cheney, by name, of being a "selfish hedonist." (August 2004)
Lynn and Dick Cheney's response: Silence
John Kerry: Sympathetically and eloquently explains that the Cheney's gay daughter is "she's being who she was. She's being who she was born as."
Lynn and Dick Cheney's response: THIS IS NOT A GOOD MAN!!!! WHAT A CHEAP AND TAWDRY POLITICAL TRICK!!! YOU SAW A MAN WHO WILL DO AND SAY ANYTHING TO GET ELECTED!!! |

I would note that while they have one daughter go to rallies and visibly help with the campaign, the lesbian daughter is confined to having a roll in the background.

Keyes isn't running for president. Or is he. I can't remember.
quote: Not if I was OK with my kids sexuality. It seems to bother quite a lot some people. |
This is Kerry's objective, to arouse, so to speak, hardcore Anti-Gay-Marriage Republicans into not voting for Cheney, and to make republicans look like they are bothered by lesbians.
The former is underhanded because it's slimey by nature. And as for why republicans are outraged - obviously homosexuality is a sensitive topic, a moron could see that. And clearly Cheney finds it tough to have a gay daughter and be in an administration that is rightfully preventing gay marriage, god bless. To turn this daughter into a bigger issue, and to almost imply that because of her sexuality, Cheney and the Republicans don't have true conviction, is just bullshit and uncalled for.
I suggest we all start talking about Teresa Heinz Ketchup Whore, and how she owns an island, and how she will run the ****ing country with her wealth if Kerry is elected.

"And as for why republicans are outraged - obviously homosexuality is a sensitive topic, a moron could see that."
So it means you can't talk about it? The thing with homosexuality is, that lot of it is just myth, a lot of that negativity that people pick up from it is exactly because it is a taboo. To talk about it helps acceptance of it at the end. Was Kerry trying to achieve this? I don't think he had that in mind when he mentioned it. However, the fact remains, his daughter is a lesbian, now it's no big deal unless you make it a big deal by raising those questions, and keep it a taboo.
"And clearly Cheney finds it tough to have a gay daughter and be in an administration that is rightfully preventing gay marriage, god bless."
So why is he putting his suit on every day to serve this administration, if it doesn't accept his daughter the way she is? The problem is NOT his daughter being lesbian. The problem is he accepts the negativity of homosexualist myths and taboos by working with and for someone that encourages that to be kept as a taboo. He could work in there, to say, fight this. Why doesn't he do that? Why doesnt' he fight for his own daughters side? He cares more about his job than his daughter? .... well I don't think that would be true, but clearly he doesn't fully accept homosexualism. He just makes a pass with his own daughter and deals with it as necessary evil it seems like.
" Cheney and the Republicans don't have true conviction, is just bullshit and uncalled for."
Oh wasn't it Cheney that implicated, that if Kerry is chosen and Bush is not, the terrorists will strike the US? which is worse. Or to question his patriotism, while he was the one in Vietnam? Which is worse.
Even though Kerry could have just shut up about it, the issue is not Kerry. The issue is with Cheney. Why is he trying to get outraged with his fellow party men, when he could turn this EASILY into landslide victory, by giving a strong speech, taking her daughter to the stage, hugging her and telling he loves her and supports her decisions and that he is comfortable with it? This would make Kerry a jerk and Cheney a ****ing huge hero, American style!
But I guess he really is uncomfortable. Maybe he needs to do little bit adjusting and soul searching.

Which would be an insult.
Kerry didn't insult Cheney's daughter, he didn't insult the family.
