	Convince me to get YOUR company's mp3 player! Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

So, I'm thinking about finally getting an mp3 player and converting all my CDs into nice mp3's. Which one should I get?

iPod owners - convince me that I should spend more for your player when I'm locked into iTunes and only mp3 and AAC file formats.

Creative owners - convince me what features the new iPod clone has which make it better than the iPod and why I should buy it.

Dell owners - convince me you got the best player, even though you don't have a touch screen for easy scrolling.

Everyone else - convince me to get yours.

I'm happy to say I don't have some iPod... and who would clone a stupid iPod anyway?

I'm happy to say I've got a Creative Zen Touch... it has what it needs: 24 hour battery life (actually true), 20 gb HD space and tons of functions for playing mp3's*and it haven't wasted lots of time/money adding a card game to it
Some complain abou the fact it's bigger than the iPod, but I don't see any problems here, it still fits into a pocket and the weight can only give problems to those whose arms are not strong enough to lift a banana

*I read a review on it shortly after the US release, where the guy said the Zen Touch was becoming more like the iPod because it had removed features compared to older Zen's, but that's not correct, since the features he was talking about is in the Zen Touch I have

They're floppies for the 21st century! Half a meg cost about 30 quid in the UK, the dollar price is probably the same!

hmm but it looks like I would have to pay about $350 for the Zen Touch. An Ipod 20GB is around $400. Damn that's expensive for a toy.

Yeah Gang, it is like $50 to $70 seperating the Zen Touch and iPod (depending on where you are). All I really need is 20MB of space though.

And isn't the Zen Creative Touch basically an iPod clone?

Nope... the Zen Touch doesn't have the bugs iPod have, and doesn't look as ugly as those iPods... I have yet to see one single reason why the Zen Touch should be called an iPod clone

What bugs do the iPods have? I wasn't aware of that.

I call it an iPod clone, because Creative attempted to make the Zen Touch a more stylish version which a touch area to scroll through songs. It looks very much like they saw the iPod's success with the stylish mp3 player and wanted to emulate bits of it. Though unlike Apple fanboys, I don't see anything wrong with that.

So far the bugs I've heard of is:

- You can't use them as a portable drive, they can only be used to play music, and you can't even transfer the mp3's back to the HD

- The auto-syncronize feature it has doesn't even ask for confirmation before deleting songs that is on the player, but not on the HD

I'm not sure if they are bugs or features, and I haven't seen it myself, only heard of it (Don't know anyone who has an iPod

First of all I don't see where the iPod and the Zen Touch looks alike... those iPod's I've seen a very ugly...

And even if we say the Zen Touch has copied the design from iPod, then I must say the complaints about it is stupid... That would be the same as back when B/W tv's was the only ones avaliable, and then one company started making color tv... would the other companies who started making their tv's color also just be copycats?

You gotta be kidding me? You don't see how they look alike? Come on! I'm the (second?) biggest anti-fanboy for Apple here, but I can acknowledge that Creative wanted to make their player look more like an iPod.

It's not the same thing. I'm not saying they copied the techonology, I'm saying they are copying the style. It'd be like a company which made TVs that were similar in style to Sony or something.

I'm not an iPod owner, but you have to admit that the iPod is very good design. You can tell they put a lot of TLC into it.

Problems with the iPod:
1) Non-removable battery
2) Touch wheel design is stupid because it's very hard to use when it's in one's pocket -- imaging making a circle instead of an up-down pattern when you can't see and it's at an angle
3) The battery life sucks
4) It doesn't support WMA, which currently has a 20% marketshare and rising rapidly (in terms of overall sound files, AAC is something well under 5% IIRC)
5) It's overpriced
6) You can't store generic data on it
7) It doesn't come with a decent equalizer
8) It's a Nomad Jukebox clone
9) Apple is a pathetic company and hell to deal with. For an example, here's a post my friend (who actually WORKS for an Apple Store in Washington...) made yesterday:

This was after he spent a fortune on a PowerBook with an iPod, and Apple treats him like crap -- come on
10) Audio specs -- the competition have better audio quality according to the specs, and according to subjective reviews. Try it yourself

That said, those that continue to harp about the iPod's size should can it. It's not that much smaller than the touch, and if size is what you truly care about...

20GB, size of the iPod Mini, and the same price as the iPod mini ($250).

I'm going to upgrade once the Zen Micro hits 20GB, or a similar design (iPod Mini sized, but 5GB instead of 4GB right now, with longer battery life, etcetc):

Also, the Dell MP3 players are just modified Creative ones (think Toyota Matrix versus Pontiac Vibe )
