You know, if I was an African-American, I would get down on my knees every day and thank God that my ancestors were snatched from the motherland and brought over here to America.
Those slaves that established the first black presence in North America paid a huge price in the indignities they suffered. They are just as important to American history as the Founding Fathers of the country. Without slave labor, our economy would have been crap and we never would have been able to support our troops in the Revoultionary War. Those slaves deserve to be held in everyone's memory with the same regard as for martyrs and saints. But I digress..
If I was an African-American, I would realize that if my ancestors had succesfully evaded the slave traders and remained in Africa until the current day, that I might be one of the savages that perpetrated these horrible crimes in the story above. Or that my Mother or sister was one of the women raped.
Africa is the armpit of the world. Raped and exploited by stronger countries, rife with disease, pestilence, hunger, and crimes against humanity. Yes, if I was an African-American I would thank God my ancestors were slaves..

But you're not, and you don't have much of a clue what Black people put up with daily from ignorant people like you, much less overt racists. So maybe you shouldn't go around making dumbass statements like the OP.

Actually, without the trans-Atlantic slave trade today's descendents of the slaves that were brought over would not exist because their parents would likely never have met. Whether they would be in Africa today doesn't really enter into it.

You think Blacks who live in the US have it worse than Blacks who live in the Congo?? You can't be serious.

Feel free to ignore the fact that colonization of and taking slaves from Africa basically devastated all of the kingdoms and governments there, basically causing the problems we see today.

Take this brief survey please:
1.Are you black? A. Yes B. No
2.do you live in the USA? A. Yes B. No
If you answered 'No' question 1 then you have to right to not voice your opinion.

CaligastiaSpace, I don't think that is true. Certainly I think it is true that Blacks in America are generally better off than ones in the Congo (though not necessarily all of Africa). However, acting like the slave trade didn't cause most of those problems is ridiculous.

It would have benefited Africa (and probably other nations too) far more to have engaged in trade and peaceful interactions rather than slavery. Especially in the long run.
The Congo was a kingdom and organized under a government before the slave trade devastated it.
The issue isn't wether it was a happy-happy land of glee before the slave trade and colonies started, the issue is wether it would have been better off it they hadn't started.

No doubt things would be better off in any situation if there was more cooperation.

As far as rape goes, yes. Americans are much more likely to be raped than Congolese. |
Look who is doing more than their fair share of the raping.
