Illinois' procedure for getting a ballot has been consistent for the past several elections -- you give them your name, they find your info and rip your profile page out of the book.

You sign the page. If the signature matches, you get a ballot.

I always have my ID and voter registration card ready,
but... they... don't... ask... for... them...

Forgery experts could vote as much as they wished. Fortunately, they are in the minority.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

The advance ballot is relatively new. Like an absentee ballot, but no proof of other location is needed.
Primarily a convenience AFAIK.

I voted for Badnarik.

There was no line at all at the polling place. I went in the middle of the day so there was no one there. Maybe 5 voters in the whole place. No line at all.

And I got a call from my mom just now as I was typing this out, and I am shocked to hear how my parents voted. My mom usually votes Democrat and my dad usually votes Republican. At the last minute my mom decided to vote for Badnarik and my dad decided to vote Kerry. but

I'm the Republican Party's worst nightmare: I'm a registered Republican who voted for Bush last time, but this time I voted for Kerry. Oh, and I live in a battleground state, albeit a small one, New Hampshire.

Bush
I'm afraid that if Kerry is elected, he'll try to keep his campaign promises, and bankrupt the middle class doing it.
When Asked if I had the same fear of Bush's promises, I can happily say, I know he won't do them.

I voted for Kerry, a Republican for state house of reps, a Libertarian for Federal Senate (a protest vote since I dispise both the Boxer and her Republican challenger), against legalizing gambling, against letting Indian casinos continue to skip state taxes, for creating a state stem cell research center, for expanding the local childrens' hospital, for mandating companies with more then 15 workers provide health insurence for workers, for limiting who can file lawsuites, and against closing a brand new landfill.

One of the local Indian tribes wants to close a landfill that has just been built but not used. The county and local cities paid $200 million to build it and it was approved by voters and the tribe 10 years ago but since then the tribe has changed their mind. Originally they were poor and on welfare so jobs as sanitation workers sounded good but in the last 10 years they've opened a Vegas style casino opporated by Harrah's (the Vegas casino) and now they've changed their mind and want out of the contract. To late we've spent $200 million and now you're on the hook.
