Gore had a point 4 years ago. Kerry is a nutscase.

He's 144000 votes behind, what is he thinking?

Gore won the popular vote and still lost.

Hence the vodka.

That he could win the electoral vote without winning the popular vote. It's not that difficult to figure this one out.

I think that Bush is ahead by about 160,000 in Ohio and there's about 250,000 provisional ballots, unless the vast majority are valid and democratic its hopeless.

There are 300,000 uncounted provisional ballots, and some have suggested there may even be up to 600,000. It is believed that these will heavily break with the Dems. A large number of them are minorities who were directed to the wrong voting precinct by Repug dirty tricks.

Official results will not be available from Ohio and Iowa and now, apparently, New Mexico. That leaves both candidates short of 270 Electoral Votes.

Man, it must be late for you!
Gore/Bush:
- Gore won popular vote
- Gore and Bush were 500-something votes seperated in Florida.
GORE HAD A POINT!

Kerry/Bush:
- Bush wins popular vote
- Bush leads by 144.000 in Ohio
KERRY HAS NO POINT AT ALL!

I never felt like Gore was a loser. He was right, if things are that close recounts are necessary.
But Kerry is a sore loser. In no way he's going to level those 144.000 votes he is behind. In NO WAY!

And he's not even backed by winning the popular vote, like Gore.

Pherhaps these 300.000 wil be for Kerry by 60%, which would be a HUGE WIN for Kerry, compared to the rest of the state.
But even THEN Bush will win.

But one can only dream, people kept on hoping that Florida would go to Kerry, since Palm Beach and Miami Dade weren't counted yet. But when the numbers of those counties came in, nothing substantial happened.

Among the 300.000 - 600.000 yet to be counted Ohio votes there will be most obviously between the 40 and 60 % for both candidates. (which is a VERY wide range, concidering the rest of the results)

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

I think the point UR is making is that in the US system, who wins the popular vote doesn't matter.

In theory, if the uncounted votes give Kerry ohio then he's the president regardless of the popular vote.

Everyone:

My home state appears to have rejected Sen. Tom Daschle, D-S.D., by a few thousand votes. Assuming Kerry loses as well, that's almost as big a black eye as failing to regain the White House for the Democrats.

I did my civic duty and voted a split ticket. It appears I voted with the majority in only one of three national races. But, hey, I did better with state- and local-level issues. Heh. Like that's going to be of any comfort to *former* Sen. Daschle.

Hmm. The terrorists really did win on Sept. 11, 2001. We just don't know it yet. They've divided the West against itself. The right-wingers in America and the lefties in Europe are pouring more fuel on the fire. I do believe I will live to see the destruction of the United States of America — as well as other Western nations — in my lifetime. Perhaps not the *physical* annhilation thereof, but of the ideas upon which they were founded.

Ah, hell. It's late. Just got back from 10.25 hours at the office. Waxing a bit philosophical at the time of the morning probably isn't the brightest thing I should be doing. Such is life.

There are currently 3 states too close to call, and Ohio is not one of them.
- New Mexico (Bush leads by 1777 votes)
- Iowa (Bush leads by 14044 votes)
- Wisconsin (Kerry leads by 14530 votes)
