You lose an election, you dust yourself off and set up for the next one, because here THERE IS always a next one. THIS is not worth killing yourself over. EVERYONE who commits suicide has a reason, and HELL YES not every reason is worthwhile. Damn straight I'm going to diss what he did. Should people kill themselves over losing a job, Ted? How about losing a child? Or a God Damn football bet? They do, but that doesn't mean we should stand there and condone it just because they are sad enough to off themselves over it.
It's just an election, get over it! |
It's not your place to judge this man as to what is and is not acceptable.
These Buddhist monks also had other alternatives, yet you condone their actions as being okay. Are they cowards also?
Start asking yourself why this man felt so strongly, as there are many others out there who feel just as despondant as he did. Never before have I ever witnessed people who are just outight upset about what happened, and if you think it's just about a damn election, you need to wake the hell up.
In any case, his message got though, whether you like it or not.
And by the way I don't agree with what he did, but at the very least we should listen to what he had to say.

Ah, a 2004 Darwin Award candidate!
Feel sorry for his family, though. |
Nah, he'd be candidate only if he'd tried to clean his teeth with the barrel of a gun, and accidentially shoot himself.
There was a guy on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, who had an idea for the US gov, conserning suicide car bombers and utilising them. A hotline, phone number.
"Help me, my life is a pure agony! I have nothing to live for!"
"Calm down, take a deep breath, and tell me, do you know how to switch gears with manual?"

Ted, there is a huge difference here. THIS IS A DEMOCRACY!
Had Kerry won the election, I would felt "Oh well, well that's that". I would have accepted the verdict of the people. That's the way it works, you fight as hard as you can during the campaign, but once the people have spoken, that's final, we move on, and we deal with whoever we elected.
That is what you all fail to realize. Bush won the election, and the people have spoken, and that is that. This isn't South Vietnam, we have free speech as a means of expressing ourselves to the government, we have the ballot box as a means of expressing ourselves to the government, so we don't need to go burning or shooting ourselves in this country.

Yep.
Now I've gotten my annual "agree with BD once a year" out of the way.
