	Can Western ideals of female "beauty" become any more phony? Inflate your Upload Space

Inspired by the Hooters lawsuit thread, allow me to rant on a little here.

What kind of idealised image of women is it we are mostly presented with in print media, TV, movies, advertising, porn etc. these days? To me, more and more, it's not a pleasant image. In fact it's becoming repulsive.

I'd like to think I'm not alone in this, but sadly from lately browsing through some "babe threads" and observing what other people present as their "perfect beauties", I start to feel that my idea of what constitutes female beauty is more uncommon than I had thought and hoped.

I don't like big, unshapely, ridiculous-looking breast implants.
I don't like extreme amounts of make up, applied in all the wrong places, to make the woman look as slutty and fake as possible, at least to my eyes.
I don't like artificial solarium tans that make the girls look like they have some incurable skin disease.
I don't like bleached hair, arranged in stupid looking fashions.
I don't like overly worked out bodies that are muscular and have coarse features that make them appear not at all feminine.
I also don't like the way some are obviosly starving themselves bordering on the pathological, making their elbows, shoulders, knees and hips stick out from the rest of the body. I'm not talking anorexics, just the general trend here.
I don't like cosmetic surgery and lip implants.
I don't like tattoos.
I don't like piercings in other places than the ear lobes.



I like more natural looking women. Not fakes. That's not to say that all cosmetic enhancements in the wider sense of the term are bad, not at all, it's just that some of the complaints listed above are becoming much too extreme and prevalent in our mainstream culture. At least for my liking.

That's why, more and more, I'm looking to Japan and other places outside the Western sphere of influence, "beauty"-wise, for a little eye candy and light entertainment...

I'm not sure we're living on the same planet. You seem to say that Pamela Anderson (she fits your list of grievances almost perfectly) is the incarnation of the so-called Western Ideal. My question is: whose ideal? Certainly not mine. Sure, I would **** her, since she looks like a lot of fun in bed. But she's definitely not my type. And I guess most of my friends would say the same. What's my type? That's a hard question to answer. As a matter of fact, it would be easier to say what I don't like in a girl. For instance, I love asians. They're gorgeous and all. But they tend not to shave down there. And that's a major turn off for me. I love to go down on women and, when doing so, I like to see the object of my veneration.

If you have a thing for Asians then obviously you're not going to appreciate the Pamela Anderson types. This thread is as artificial as someone like Mr. Fun posting a list of traits he finds unattractive in women.

It's the trend as I see it i tried to describe. Of course there are still stunningly good looking women all over the place. I'm just getting tired of the media and what not all too often catering to the lowest of standards. From where I'm at anyway.

And bringing up Pamela Anderson was a very good illustration of the "standards" I'm taking issue with. I can't get myself to describe her as attractive in any way, other than she breathes oxygen and she's got two X chromosomes. Or so they say.

But I also think : ) Smiley is probably more right than any of us.
