I agree, Greencard sucked. The other I haven't seen.

I saw plenty of good (French) ones, and surely his name on the billboard will draw me to the cinema.

I read an article about some people who tries to create a 3D model of actors like Bruce Lee and John Wayne, so they some day could be in a new movie... and I believe it'll be possible to create their voices also... so who knows, one day he might star in another movie

Like the Beer commercial that had John Wayne in it. Was it a Coors light commercial? I cannot remember which brand.

For some reason most women only do a few movies that aren't girls-movies, which makes their chances of doing some boring (seen from a guy perspective) movie much higher

Sandra Bullock is one of those women that has a high chance of making a good movie (compared to other women), but she have been in many not-so-good movies too

And Kelly Hu is amazing, but her full potential is never used in the movies she's in

as for actresses, let me think...

I'd go with older actresses. Meryl Streep maybe? She's a great actress, but sometimes she stars in boring movies.

Clint Eastwood
Johnny Depp
Bruce Willis
Forest Whitaker
Morgan Freeman
Bill Murray
Harvey Keitel
Jim Carrey
Adam Sandler
... and then probably a whole bunch I forgot.

... Yep, no women either. I'm not sure why.
But conversely, are there really that many big female movie stars who really carry a movie, other than romantic comedies? (or, um, sort of what Adagio said)

Oh, and for all those mentioning Christopher Walken. Are you sure?

He admits to rarely turning down movie offers, no matter how bad they are.

Yet, any scene he's in is awesome for whatever reason -- no matter how bad the movie is. Thus, he's on the list.

But does that mean you'll go see a movie with him in it even if you know it's crap? Well, apparently you do, considering Gigli... And if you go see a movie with him in it that unexpectedly turns out to be crap, can you not regret seeing it (paying for it) just because of his scenes?

(Just to be clear, I'm not trying to judge you, I'm just curious.)

Finally I'd like to point out that everyone on that list has made stinkers. The artistry of a movie does not depend soley upon the actors and actresses, it also rests upon the scriptwriters, the director, and the editors. I've even seen movies ruined by the musical department and the prop masters / special effects artists.
This is sort of the idea behind the question. Actors have the opportunity to read and decide if this is a good script or not. Some actors will appear in anything for a check. But who do you trust to appear in a good movie consistently.

They have great taste in the scripts they choose whether they star in the film or are playing supporting roles. I've found some great films by using this method. Same with Parker Posey.

It's unfortunate that I can't add any women to this list. roles for women are so shitty. The only women I could even consider are kate Beckinsale based on her role in Eternal Sunshine and Maggie Cheung based on her roles in In the Mood for Love and Hero.

I would also add Tony Leung Chiu Wai for his roles in In the Mood for Love and Hero.

The way you wrote that reminds me of the Monarch from the Venture Bros.

I love in the mood for love. I can only judge his acting from his ability to convey his characters to me even though he's speaking a different language. Some actors can't connect using the same language as the audience. Tony is a great ****ing actor. IMHO.

I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon and say Titanic was a horrible movie. It had good special effects. But I wouldn't call the script good. I'd call it adequate.

Clint Eastwood

actually he's had a few stinkers, but a majority of them are good.

I'm watching one of his classics right now on AMC channel.

For a few dollars more.
