This is the game thread for this succession game setup. The game is full, but you are welcome to watch and comment. (Hint: Ask for screenies. )
Each player takes the empire for a given number of turns, runs it as he prefers and then gives over to the next player. During that time he is the sole leader of the civilization, so he can do whatever he wants to, and can't be stopped (except by Voodoo magic, although I don't know if anyone tried yet).
Game setup:- Large map,
- Continents,
- 70% Water,
- Wet,
- Temperate,
- 4 Billion,
- random barbarians,
- random AI civs,
- Preserve Random Seed on (to make it easier to replay turns to make screenies
),
- Scientific Leaders on,
- Restarting AI Players off,
- Emperor difficulty,
- AU Mod (the most current version available at game start),
- modified Curraghs that can carry 1 foot unit,
- we play Byzantines
- 5 players in a succession.
Rulers of our civilization:- Modo
- Makahlua (temporary replacement: Paddy the Scot)
- Snoopy
- Grandpa Troll
- Mart7x5
The players take over the empire for a specific number of turns. During that time they are free to do anything they see fit. The period is 20 turns during Ancient Age, 15 turns during Medieval Age, 10 turns during Industrial Age, 5 turns during Modern age (The F8 screen shows which game turn it is.).
The save should be after the player's turns, which means the next player gets the game at the beginning of the first turn of his reign (i.e. you make turns 21 through 40, then hit "End Turn", do the diplomacy and then save the game for the next person on turn 41, without moving anything).
Oh, and don't forget to give a screenie of the empire at your last turn. Demographics would be nice as well. In general, don't be afraid of letting us know (and see) how good our civ looks.
And here is where we were at the beginning:

Ancient history...
4000 BC
Ahh, some Cattle to feed our people! Modo I was happy to tell his tribe that they have finally found a place to settle. Thus, the town of Constantinople was built.
Immediately, researching Pottery was ordered, so the food could be stored better. Also an Irrigation project was started.
3550 BC
A Warrior band leaves Constantinople to scout the surrounding lands. Later it found more Cattle and some nice Wheat, as it followed a Mountain range leading north-east.
3300 BC
Pottery was researched. Soon a Granary would be built in Constantinople.
Modo I decided his deeds deserved keeping for future generations, so he orders that a way to do this be found! Research on Writing commenced.
3050 BC
Our scouting Warrior band found a small village on teir path. The nice inhabitants told us interesting things about the territory they knew.
2950 BC
The finishing of the first Byzantine Granary sees an end to the rule of Modo I. Well, more like a whole dynasty of Modos, if you recall that it took a thousand years.
Tip for Grandpa: if a hut is near you, try to pop it by settling a city nearby. This way you won't get barbarians coming after you.
Here's us, 2950 BC:

So, the great Modo had left behind a granary, and orders for a setyler to be built, which suited the new Empress Makahlua just fine. She somehow sensed that though they were now bigger and stronger than any other wandering tribe around, their later greatness might just depend on being even bigger and stronger!
2950 - No big changes, but sent warrior to investigate village up in the tundra. End result: popped a spare warrior
2350 - First settler done! They leave for a site desingated 'Adrianople' This irrigation is taking far too long and the Empress orders another band of workers rounded up (Tips for sucessors: and they might've been out a couple turns sooner, 'cept I forgot to check on happiness levels in Const. when I saw it had 1 turn to grow And a great trick I learned from the demo game - make that peacekeeper a scientist, they are more useful in the long run especially with a city that will fluctuate in population all the time )
Later - Two curraghs are comissoned, the Aquafina and the Frappucino, to map the coasts of our great land, which the Empress is beginning to think is soley inhabited by the Byzantines and assorted minor tribes (seriously! all the way through my turns and still no other contacts : ) A slight improvement on her predecessor, she actually finshes a second ordered settler and sends them toward a site on the northern coast. And thus ends the reign of Makahlua the first
Notes for my successor : I starred the site below on the map - and marked another great coast site to the south, there's cattle right by it You might try chopping that forest near Adrianople as soon as the irrigation is done to speed granary #2, plenty of hills and mountins nearby to produce sheilds from later That conscript warrior of ours should be able to take on that barb camp just fine from the mountain as well. If you get writing in your turns, and we -still- haven't got any contacts, will you research ceremonial burial? Temples in both cities would help with happiness, and adrianople could have both a wheat -and- cattle to use - imagine the settlers we'd get from that! Also I put A. where it is to be a fture capitol move site - we will need to move away from the coast, judging from the shape of our island-continent so far....
Oh and that extra worker early on can -really- pay off in the long run, when you're not industrious! I highly remommend popping another pair once we get a couple more cities down, heck maybe 2 pair. One worker per city is a good raito, and keep em paired for faster development!
